ALTSCHULER. Mrs. Beatrice "Bea" Altschuler died peacefully March 12, 2009. She was 93. Born in Brooklyn, Bea lived in Manville for before moving to Bridgewater for 60 years. She was currently employed as a bookkeeper for Somerville Lumber Company for more than 60 years. She was a member of Temple Sholom in Bridgewater and of Hadassah. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. Bea is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Myra of Leesburg, Va.; and grandson, Daniel of Jerusalem. Born and raised in Somerville, Dorothea lived there for more than 30 years and in New York City before moving to Philadelphia in 2003. She was a supervisor in the International Money Transfer Department for Chase Manhattan Bank in New York for more than 30 years before retiring in 1991. She had a great sense of humor and loved listening to jokes. She enjoyed going to the theatre and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.Her husband, Nathan died in 1964; and her son, Louis died in 1964. Dorothea is survived by her nephew, Richard Markowitz and his wife, Marlene; and great-nephews, Howard and his wife, Julia, and Steven and his wife, Dena. Mrs. Marilyn Fried died March 12, 2009 at Robert Wood University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was 71. Born and raised in New York City, Mrs. Fried lived in Brooklyn, Flushing, and Bayside, Queens before moving to Monroe in 1994. After graduating from Erasmus High School with honors, she attended the City University of New York. She owned and operated Fried's Hardware Company and Air Freeze Air Conditioning Company with her husband, Sidney. She also worked as the executive secretary to the head of fundraising at both the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism and Cancer Care, Inc. As well as being an avid reader, she enjoyed playing mah jongg and spending time with friends. Her greatest joy came from cooking her grandchildren's favorite dishes. Mrs. Fried is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Paul Zankel of East Brunswick, and Betsy and David Mandel of Floral Park, N.Y.; son, David of Coral Springs, Fla.; grandchildren, Ezra, Aaron, and Samuel Zankel, and Chaim, Emma, and Eli Mandel. Ms. Jennifer Friedman died suddenly March 7, 2009. She was 64. Born in Newark and raised in Hillside, Jennifer lived in Elizabeth before moving to Bridgewater 17 years ago. She retired from Lewis Chester Associates in Summit on Dec. 31, 2008. Jennifer is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Stanley Kalban; six nieces and nephews; and nine great-nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Bruce C. Mrs. Laura Ruth Konigsberg died March 29, 2009 in Bear Creek Assisted Living. She was 67. Born in Brooklyn, Mrs. Konigsberg lived in the New Brunswick area for many years before moving to the Rossmoor area five years ago. She retired as the head of children's services at the New Brunswick Free Public Library after 10 years of service. She was predeceased by her husband, Sheldon. Mrs. Konigsberg is survived by her children, Seth, Robert, and Janice; brother, Arthur Schnur; and grandchildren, Rebecca, Sam, Shawn, Ian, Sarah and Michael. MENLOW. Mr. Irving Menlow died March 20, 2009. He was 93. Born in Lithuania, Irving emigrated to U.S. and to New Jersey in 1948, making homes in Newark, Hillside, Maplewood and Short Hills. He moved to Sunny Isles, Fla., in 2002. He was a Holocaust survivor, exposed to extreme persecution in the Kovno Ghetto and the Stutthof and Dachau concentration camps. Energetic and resourceful, he owned and operated a successful auto business in Newark for more than 50 years. He was a former president of B'nai B'rith at MetroWest and was particularly involved in the resettlement of Soviet Jews in the 1970s. Irving is survived by his wife of 29 years, Raisa; son and daughter-in-law, David and Ellin of Green Brook; daughters and son-in-law, Elaine and Steven Masket of Westfield, and Nicole Menlow of Sunny Isles, Fla.; grandchildren, Sara, Jennifer, Will and Alex; and a great-grandson, Chase. Interment is at Beth David Memorial Park, Kenilworth. ROBINS. Mr. Burton Robins died March 21, 2009, at home in Monroe. He was 75. Born and raised in the Bronx, Mr. Robins lived in Monroe for the last 10 years. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the United States Army. He was a teacher for the New York City board of education for 20 years before retiring in 1992. He was a wine expert and a gourmet chef, and had many other interests. Mr. Robins is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Arlene; son, Gregory of Laurel, Md.; daughter, Meredith Allen of Green Brook; and three grandchildren. Interment at Beth El Cemetery, Paramus. Mr. Albert A. Rosen died March 25, 2009 at home. He was 68. Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Rosen lived in East Windsor before moving to Monroe four years ago. Prior to retiring, he owned Twin Rivers Deli Express. He belonged to the Fortitue Benevolent Association of East Windsor. Mr. Rosen is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jacqueline Greenspan Rosen; son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Antoinette of Wayne, Pa.; daughters and son-in-law, Windi and Michael Tillem of Monroe, and Loretta Bruselovsky of Monroe; brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Tobi of Staten Island; and grandchildren, Justin and Ilana Bruselovsky, Jordan and Jessica Rosen, and Madison and Skylar Tillem. Mrs. Audrey Strumeier died March 25, 2009, at the Monmouth Medical Center Hospice, Long Branch. She was 45. Born in Newark, Audrey lived in Edison before moving to Marlboro 17 years ago. She was a member of the Marlboro Jewish Center and its hospital visitation committee and a CASA volunteer. Audrey is survived by her beloved husband, Jeff; cherished daughters, Jaime and Shana of Marlboro; loving mother and step-father, Susan (nee Strahl) and Joel Wiener of Monroe; dearest sister, Sheryl Dubman of Ocean; step-brother, Jack Wiener of Livingston; step-sister, Heidi Wiener of Morristown; and half siblings, Brian, Sondra and Heather Levine, all of Florida. Born in New York City, Mrs. Weinstein lived in Cranford and Monroe before moving to Somerset one year ago. Mrs. Weinstein is survived by her husband, Walter; sons and daughters-in-law, Brad and Carol Breslau, and Robert and Paula Breslau; brother, Bert Sandler; and grandchildren, Steven, Kenneth, Gregory and Calley. Mrs. Harriet Kligfeld Wellikson died March 26, 2009 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Brooklyn, Mrs. Wellikson lived in Rockland County, N.Y., before moving to Monroe 14 years ago. Prior to retiring in 1994, she was a file manager for United Technologies, Montvale, where she worked for 11 years. She was a member of the National Council of Jewish Women. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Scott Fields, and her sister, Beatrice Kushner. Mrs. Wellikson is survived by her husband of 52 years, Stanley; daughters and son-in-law, Joanne Fields of Ambler, Pa. and Karen and Doug Badeau of Hoboken; and grandchildren, Fredric and Brittany Fields. Born in Jersey City, Mrs. Wolff lived in Bayonne for most of her life before moving to Red Bank, South Brunswick, and finally to Franklin. She was an avid reader, a master bridge player, and an artist and sculptor. Her husband, William H. Wolff, who owned Wolff's Pharmacy in Bayonne, died in 1964. Mrs. Wolff is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Nina of Monroe, and Jack and Roberta of Bluffton, S.C., formerly of Montville; grandchildren, William, Amy, Andrew and Jodi; and great-granddaughter, Sydney Rose.
