BERNSTEIN. Mr. Henry P. "Bud" Bernstein died April 14, 2009 at the Center for Hope Hospice, Scotch Plains. He was 63. Born in Newark, Mr. Bernstein was a longtime resident of Cranford before moving to Roselle eight years ago. He was the owner of Bernstein Financial Associates in Roselle. His father, Sam, died in 2002.

Mr. Bernstein is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Bethany an Jonathan Fishbein of Monmouth Junction; mother, Vera Fast Bernstein of Monroe; brother and sister-in-law, Rich and Carol of Monroe; companion, Jeanne Catapane of Iselin; grandchildren, Sam and Tali; and many devoted friends. Interment at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin. Arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 116 S. CHIDELL. Mrs. Ethel Levitz Chidell died April 3, 2009 at home. She was 92.

Born in Laurel, Del., she lived in Kentucky and Mississippi before moving to Princeton. Her husband, David, died in 1977.

Mrs. Chidell is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Tobie and Stanley Parnett of Princeton, and Deanie and Melvin Yasner of New Hope, Pa.; grandchildren and their spouses, Rendi and Mark Dalpe, Marlene and Martin Applebaum, Joe and Nina Parnett, and Robin and Derek Cohen; and great-grandchildren, Andrew and Derek Dalpe, Brandy and Ian Appelbaum, Shon and Nichol Parnett, and Julie Cohen. Interment at Agudith Achim Cemetery, Louisville, Ky. Arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. FREYER. Mrs. Hilde Freyer died April 6, 2009 at Atlantic Coast rehab and Health, Lakewood. She was 100. Born in Vienna, Austria, Mrs. Freyer was a Holocaust survivor who later immigrated to the United States.

She worked for many years as a self-employed barber in Toms River before retiring. She was a member of Congregation B'nai Israel in Toms River. Her husband, Fred, died in 1968. She has no surviving relatives, but is survived by a few dear friends.

Interment at Congregation B'nai Israel Memorial Park, Toms River. Arrangements by Belkoff-Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Lakewood. Memorial donations may be made to the Congregation B'nai Israel Educational Endowment Fund.

GLASSMAN. Mrs. Mollie Gellman Glassman died April 12, 2009 at Park Place Center, South Brunswick. She was 96.

Born in Yaruga, Russia, Mrs. Glassman lived in East Brunswick and the Bronx. Her husband, Morris, died in 1971.

Mrs. Glassman is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Wendy of Monroe; daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Arnold Brown of Monroe; step-daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and David Eidelman; grandchildren, Eric, Karen, Kenneth and Randi; and 16 great-grandchildren. GREENBERG. Mr. Mel Greenberg died from injuries sustained in a car accident on April 10, 2009. He was 60.

Born in the Bronx and raised in New Jersey, Mel graduated from Marshall University, West Virginia. He subsequently entered the family business and later made a career change to auto sales consultant. While working in sales for DCH Toyota, he received many awards in customer service and sales. He was an avid sports fan, and especially loved the Giants and Yankees. He also had a passion for cars, and his 1977 red Harley Davidson motorcycle. He will always be remembered for his compassion, humor and ability to make those around him laugh and smile. He was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. He was predeceased by his parents, Anne and Harry, and his sister, Myra Linderman.

Mel is survived by his loving wife, Rona (née Roth); his children, Sierra and Dan Pung, Seth and Cassie Greenberg and their daughter Lizzie, Shea Greenberg, Jessica and Jason Demcsak and their son Dylan, and Amanda Siegel; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Lucy, and Jeffrey and Lita. Interment at Floral Park Cemetery, Deans (South Brunswick). Arrangements by Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, New Brunswick. Memorial donations be made to a charity of one's choice.

LOEB. Mr. Walter Loeb died April 13, 2009 at home. He was 92.

Born in Birkenau, Germany in 1916, Walter grew up in Nazi Germany. He was likely the last survivor who had been arrested on Kristallnacht, the horrific event that marked the beginning of the Holocaust. On Nov. 10, 1938 he was arrested in Karlsruhe, Germany, for no other reason than the fact that he was Jewish. His passing marks the final first person testimony of what happened there. He was deported to Dachau concentration camp where he experienced many hardships and atrocious events, and was released from Dachau in the winter of 1939. It was the only time ever that prisoners were released from a concentration camp. Walter obtained passage to America in 1940, and then served in the U.S. Army for five years, stationed in Okinawa and the South Pacific. For his war service, he received the Okinawa Battle Star and Pre-Pearl Harbor medals. Following World War II he earned a degree in Television Engineering in Chicago and worked in television electronics with Sylvania Corporation after moving to Massachusetts with his family in 1957.

Walter also worked for the Raytheon Corporation, which, at the time, was involved in top-secret missile production. He later moved with his family to the New York area and earned a degree in Computer Systems Analysis from New York University. He had a distinguished career in the early days of computer systems, as a Senior Systems Analyst/Technical Writer at Chemical/Chase Manhattan Bank, in the New York City area. Upon retiring from his banking career in 1990, he ran a freelance German-English translation business. He also volunteered as a leader of religious services for the elderly and was a Holocaust educator, speaking to adult and student groups about his experiences as a survivor. He received awards and had many articles written about his experiences during this dark time and his story is noted in a recent book by Sir Martin Gilbert, entitled "Kristallnacht", and he was quoted in "Human Smoke," by Nicholson Baker. Walter's memoirs are documented at the Leo Baeck Institute, Manhattan. He was also a charter member of the Rockland Center for Holocaust Studies (now the Holocaust Museum and Study Center), Spring Valley, N.Y.

While living in Rockland County, N.Y., he was a longtime member of the Monsey Jewish Center and a past board member at Temple Israel Synagogue in Natick, Mass. He moved to Monroe in 1998 and was a congregant of Beth El Synagogue, East Windsor, and the Jewish Congregation of Concordia, Monroe. A member of Post 609, Jewish War Veterans, Mr. Loeb was also a member of the Ponds Unit of B'nai B'rith,. Both Mr. Loeb and his wife have been honored for their work, spanning 50 years, with B'nai B'rith. He was a member of the Roaring Nineties Club and was involved in The Ponds development Computer and History clubs all in Monroe. He was an avid reader of history and extremely knowledgeable about politics and World War II history. He will be remembered for his wisdom, influence, sense of humor, and exacting memory. He was predeceased by his brother, Bernard.

Walter is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, the former Ilse Morgenstern, who he met in Chicago and who is also a survivor of the Holocaust. Mr. Loeb and his wife were profiled in 1999 by the Rockland Journal News for their 50th wedding anniversary. He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael E. and Diane of San Anselmo, Calif.; daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn Loeb-Garfinkel and Miles of Delmar, N.Y., Judy and Stephen Schreier of West Nyack, N.Y., and Deborah and Steven Cohn of East Hills, N.Y.; and grandchildren, Elise, Julia, Danielle, Alison, Jeffrey, Cayla and Lana. Interment at Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus. Arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. MOSLOVITZ. Mr. Milton Moslovitz died April 12, 2009 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was 80.

Born and raised in Perth Amboy before moving to Monroe, Mr. Moslovitz also had a winter residence in Florida. He was an Army Veteran who served in the Korean War. He worked in the food service industry for many years and was employed by The Center for Jewish Life at Princeton University and also worked at Macy's Food Cellar as a Gourmet Food Buyer. He was a member of Temple Shaarey Tefiloh in Perth Amboy, and he volunteered for Jewish Family Services where he was named Volunteer of The Year. He was also a member of The Jewish War Veterans, The Jewish Congregation of Concordia and the Seniors Club of Concordia.

Mr. Moslovitz is survived by his beloved sister, Bessie Levine of Metuchen; niece, Cathy Levine-Cohen of Highland Park; nephew, Edward Levine of Metuchen; special friend, Ibby Pomerantz; and great-nephews, Benjamin and Andrew Cohen. Interment at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Arrangements by The Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Inc., Edison. Memorial contributions may be made to The Jewish War Veterans of Concordia or a charity of one's choice.

SCHMELZER. Mr. Paul Schmelzer died April 6, 2009 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy. He was 92.

Born in Poland, Mr. Schmelzer came to the United States in 1948. He was a Holocaust survivor. He worked as a developer throughout New Jersey. He was member of the Jewish Educational Center in Elizabeth. He was predeceased by his wife, the late Susan Schmelzer.

Mr. Schmelzer is survived by his son, Marvin; his daughter, Paulette Schwartz; and grandchildren, Jared, Erin, Eric and Rachael. Interment at the Elizabeth Jewish Cemetery. Arrangements by the Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, Westfield.
