ABRAMS. Mr. Stanford Morton Abrams died July 22, 2008, at home in Lakewood. He was 77.
Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Abrams lived in Freehold, East Brunswick, and Pittsburgh before settling in Lakewood 10 years ago. He was a past member of Temple Beth Am. He served in the Army in the Medical Corps during the Korean War, where he rose to the rank of sergeant and received several medals and commendations. He was self-employed and operated Target Industries in Lakewood.
Stanford is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Barbara; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Lynn of Toms River, and Richard and Beth of Freehold; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Leonard Seltzer of Boca Raton, Fla.; grandchildren, Tracey and her husband Marc Innella, Erica, Eden, and Orion; and great-grandchildren, Sara and Jackson. BORNSTEIN. Mrs. Phyllis Bornstein (nee Feldman) died July 21, 2008, at home. She was 76.
Born in Newark, Mrs. Bornstein lived in Elizabeth before moving to Edison, where she lived for 40 years. She was very proud to have been a librarian for North Edison Public Library for 25 years. Her husband, Simon, died in 2000.
Mrs. Bornstein is survived by her daughters, Judy Lee, Rose Bedoya, and Lisa Steinberger; son, Robert; and 10 grandchildren. Interment at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin. Arrangements by The Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Inc., Edison. Memorial donations may be made to The Simon Wiesenthal Center.
BRODY. Mr. Sid Brody died July 15, 2008, at home. He was 88.
Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Brody lived there until moving to Lakewood in 1995. He served in the Army in the medical corps during World War II. He worked as a salesman for Hebrew National Provisions in the Bronx and was a member of the Masons. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 54 years, Goldie.
Mr. Brody is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur and Paulette of Katonah, N.Y., and Howard and Margaret of Davis, Calif.; daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Barry Hoffman of Thiells, N.Y., and Shari and Tim Karpin of Sacramento, Calif.; sister, Annie Friedman of Long Island; grandchildren, Renne, Alex, Debra and her husband Tony, and Mitch and his wife Maria; and a great-granddaughter, Ella. DIAMOND. Mrs. Elayne Fern Diamond died July 13, 2008, at Community Medical Center, Toms River, surrounded by family. She was 63.
Born in Newark on July 1, 1945, with two perfectly pear shaped pupils, Laynie was quite unique. The daughter of Charles and Pearl Newman, she and her family lived in Irvington briefly before moving to Newark. When she was 13, the family moved to South Orange. She lived in Toms River for the past two years. Elayne graduated from Columbia High School and the New York School of Interior Design. Her work as an interior designer was featured in numerous national home magazines and The Star-Ledger. Laynie also established and operated a variety of furniture, gift and apparel businesses throughout New Jersey. She was the proprietor of Table Talk Dinettes in Bayville. Laynie was famous for her remarkably decorated theme parties, where chimpanzees, magicians, belly dancers and more would entertain family and friends. She was a good friend who valued family and who showed tremendous generosity. At age 20, Elayne married Stanley Diamond of Elizabeth. She bore two children, Garrett and Robin, and she raised them in Clark, West Orange and Elizabeth. Her mother, Pearl, and her brother, Dean Ira Newman, preceded her in death. She spent the last 10 years with her beloved and caring partner, Norman Streit.
Elayne is also survived by her father, Charles; daughter, Robin; son and daughter-in-law, Garrett and Robin Lynn; and brother Gilbert Newman and his wife and daughters, Helen, Rachel and Sarah Newman. HARLAN. Dr. Craig M. Harlan of Fresno, Calif., originally from Cranford, peacefully passed away on July 10, 2008, after a courageous 20-month battle with cancer. He was 57.
Born in Newark, Craig graduated from Cranford High School in 1969. He earned a bachelor's degree in sociology, a master's degree in marriage, family and child counseling at the University of Arizona, and a doctoral degree of psychology at California Coast University. In addition to being an administrator of several behavioral health clinics in the early years of his career, he dedicated himself to his private practice as a marriage and family therapist for 26 years. Craig had a great passion and love for magic tricks and always the practical joker, he also used these qualities to make people smile and laugh. In fact, he incorporated his magic to establish and maintain a rapport with many of his clients whom he counseled through his practice. He was active in the Fig Garden Rotary Club and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow Award, an honor that he deeply cherished. Craig was an avid world traveler and scuba diver. He also had a great love for his two dogs, Max and Gabriel.
Craig was the dear son of Alice and Martin Harlan of Cranford; and the loving brother of Gary Harlan of Brick, and Robin-Harlan Fuchs of Bridgewater. He is also survived by his sons, Joshua and Andrew of Fresno, Calif.; fiancee, Deborah Powell, also of Fresno, Calif.; sister-in-law, Angela Harlan; brother-in-law, Carl Fuchs; and nieces and nephews, Sarah and Aaron Fuchs, and Adam and Amanda Harlan.

KAPLAN. Mrs. Dorothy Ann Kaplan died June 27, 2008, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, after a courageous and drawn-out battle with cancer, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was 77.
Born and raised in Jersey City, Mrs. Kaplan lived in Edison for 30 years before moving to Shark River Hills and then to Ocean. She was a homemaker and raised three children. Early in her career, she was bookkeeper for a major insurance company in Manhattan. In her free time, she enjoyed her family, world travel, Broadway shows and the beaches at the Jersey Shore. She will be remembered as a kind person who was a gracious host and wonderful cook. She was loved dearly and will be fondly remembered by all the lives she touched.She was predeceased by her parents, Morris and Frances Feinstein; and her brother, Lionel.
Mrs. Kaplan is survived by Jerry, her beloved husband of 52 years; daughter, Karen Terry of Marlboro; sons, Robert and his wife, Hope, and Maurice and his fiancee Shelly Pierce of Piscataway; grandchildren, Melissa, Daniel, Ira and Stephanie; and brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Dolly Feinstein of Kendall Park. KRAKOW. Mr. Aaron M. Krakow died July 21, 2008, at Park Place Center, South Brunswick. He was 20.
Born in New Brunswick, Mr. Krakow was a lifelong resident of New Jersey, spending the majority of his life in South Brunswick. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Howard Walpin, and Nathan and Betty Shapiro, as well as his paternal grandmother, Sadie Krakow.
Mr. Krakow is survived by his mothers, Marsha Shapiro and Louise Walpin; brothers, Jesse Rosenberg of East Brunswick and Scott Rosenberg of Monmouth Junction; sister, Melissa Farkas of Dayton; maternal grandmother, Estelle Walpin of East Brunswick; biological father, Edward Krakow of Sewell; and paternal grandfather, Ted Krakow of Florida. LOWE. Mrs. Lynne (nee Topman) of West Orange died July 24, 2008, at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston.
Born in New York, Mrs. Lowe lived in West Orange for many years. She was a member of B'nai B'rith and Hadassah.
Mrs. Lowe is survived by her husband, Herbert; daughters and sons-in-law, Valerie and Richard Kolodin, and Vicki and Michael Kalmus; and grandson, Alexander Kalmus. SCHREIBMAN. Mrs. Gail Eisenberg Schreibman died June 25, 2008, at Jersey Shore Medical Center. She was 59.
Born in Chicago, Mrs. Schreibman grew up in West Long Branch and lived in Long Branch for four years before moving to Ocean 25 years ago. She was a teacher in the Long Branch School System for 10 years. She also taught at Congregation B'nai Israel's Gan Yeladim Nursery School and was known for her genuine love of children, all of whom loved her in return. Her life was all about her children and grandchildren, and the joy they brought to her life. She loved the beauty of nature and the outdoors. The Schreibmans are long time members of Temple Beth El, Oakhurst.
Mrs. Schreibman is survived by her beloved husband of 30 years, Steven; sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and Jody of York, Pa.; and Marc and Lauren of Brick; sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Kelly Putaski of Bradley Beach; brother, Gary of Ocean; brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Nancy of Freehold; mother, Bernice Eisenberg; and grandchildren, Caleb, Natalie and Sedona. SMITH. Mr. Benjamin Smith died June 24, 2008, at home. He was 84.
Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Smith lived in Pittsburgh before moving to Highland Park more than 40 years ago. He graduated from City College of New York and received his master's degree in chemical engineering from New York University. Before retiring in 1985 he was a chemical engineer for Hoffmann-La Roche, Nutley. Previously he worked for American Cyanamid, Bridgewater and for the Koppers Company, Pittsburgh. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the Philippines and after the war in Japan.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rhoda (Berenfield); sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur and Myra of Rockville, Md., and Mitchell and Alison of Somerset; daughters and son-in-law, Rochelle and Jeremy of Ellerslie, Md., and Melinda and Ken of Edison; and grandchildren, Amy, Suzanne, Noah, Hannah, and Miriam. TUCHINSKY. Mr. Benjamin Tuchinsky died at home July 21, 2008. He was 98.
Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Tuchinsky lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., then Clifton, then Cranbury for about 25 years before returning to Clifton five years ago. He owned MTS Frames Manufacturing in Clifton for more than 25 years, retiring 25 years ago. He was a past president of the Clearbrook B'nai B'rith in Cranbury and of Temple Beth Shalom in Clifton. He was predeceased by his wife, Etta Tuchinsky (nee Cohen) and his daughter, Doris Stein.
Mr. Tuchinsky is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Eve and Jeffrey Friedlander of West Orange; son-in-law, Howard Stein; grandchildren, Steven Friedlander, Marc Friedlander, Susan Zeger, and Jeffrey Stein; and four great-grandchildren. WULFF. Mrs. Ella Renee Wulff (nee Alter) died July 18, 2008, at JFK Medical Center, Edison. She was 84.
Born in London, Ella served as a British Army nurse during World War II and came to this country in 1954 for a year's stay in Manhattan. While there, she met her husband-to-be, Peter, a fellow Londoner. They married in 1957 and stayed in the U.S. She first worked as a medical secretary at New York's Hospital for Joint Diseases and later, after moving to New Jersey, she worked with several doctors. She eventually became an executive secretary at Royal Foods in Woodbridge. Ella and her husband were married for 51 years and lived first in North Arlington and then in Colonia and Edison. She was a life member of Hadassah and, following retirement, served as a 12-year volunteer for Kosher Meals on Wheels for Jewish Family and Vocational Services. In addition to her family she had one other abiding love: animals.
Ella is survived by her husband, Peter; daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Jim Stevenson of Plano, Texas, and Vanessa and David Sperber of Long Island; and grandsons, Sam and Ben. ZELMAN. Mr. Joseph Zelman died June 14, 2008, at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. He was 93.
Born in Poland, Joseph came to United States as a teenager in the early 1930s. He served in the Army during World War II and lived in Brooklyn, where he was employed as a Realtor for Eisber and Lens Real Estate for many years. He moved to Brick upon his retirement in 1981. He was a member of Congregation Sons of Israel, Lakewood.
Mr. Zelman is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Marion; sons and daughter-in-law, Stewart of Silver Springs, Md., and Michael and Edith of Aurora, Colo.; and granddaughters Samra, Amanda, Hannah and Zoe.
