GOLDBERG.Mrs. Betty Goldberg died July 29, 2009, at Harrogate Health Care Center. She was 97. Born in New York City, Mrs. Goldberg lived there until moving to Lakewood 35 years ago. She was very active in many organizations, including Hadassah, Deborah, and the Camp Loyaltown Ladies League in New York City. Mrs. Goldberg is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Ed Isaacs of Toms River; sister, Hilda Connors of Florida; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Interment at Beth Olam Cemetery, Lakewood. Arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean. GOLDSTEIN.Mr. Sidney A. Goldstein died July 30, 2009, at Centra State Medical Center, Freehold. He was 96. Born and raised in the Bronx, Sidney settled in Lakewood in 1976. He served in the Army during World War II (1942-1946) as a medical technician. He worked for Daitch-Shopwell Supermarket in the Bronx as manager of the appetizer department and, much later, he worked in retail sales in Oscar's Appetizers, West 72nd St., Manhattan. He was an avid reader, interested in many subjects. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 48 years, Pearl. Mr. Goldstein is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Sandra Lynn Mantel of Toms River, and Lori Ann and Alan Broder of Jackson; and a grandson, Michael J. Mantel. Heitner died July 31, 2009, at Community Medical Center, Toms River. He was 71. Born in the Bronx, Stanley lived in Brick before moving to Toms River eight years ago. He worked as a structural foreman for the N.Y.C. Transit Authority for 37 years before retiring in 1997. He was a man of many talents, crafting dollhouses from scratch. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. Mr. Heitner is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Malissa of Charleston, S.C., and Jeffrey and Debbie of Brick; daughter and son-in-law, Bari and Mario Riccio of Brick; and grandchildren, Andrew, Sophia, Madison, and Brianna. She was 88. Born and raised in Elizabeth, Evelyn settled in Manchester in 2002. She was very active in her community and was a member of the Renaissance Hadassah, the Renaissance Great Parents Club, the singles club, and the KMC Auxiliary. Before retiring in 1980 she was the head of the shipping department of Durawear, Garwood, and at St. Elizabeth Hospital and the Wheeling Warehouse, both in Elizabeth. Her beloved husband, Murray, died in 1972. Mrs. Hollander is survived by her daughter, Joan; niece, Bernice Cantor; and nephew, Alan Shiller. Interment at Gomel Chesed Hebrew Cemetery, Elizabeth. Mr. Bernard Kobb died July 25, 2009, at home. He was 83. Born in Staten Island, Mr. Kobb lived in the shore area since 1973. He was an engineer at Fort Monmouth until his retirement. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II and a member of Post #125 of the Jewish War Veterans Asbury Park/Ocean. He was a member of Temple Beth Torah and the Men's Club of the temple. Mr. Kobb is survived by his wife, Sherril; sons, Alan of Springfield, and Kenneth of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; brother, Lawrence of Gainesville, Fla.; and grandson, Jacob. Kramer died July 28, 2009, at home. He was 81. Born in Pittsburgh, Mr. Kramer lived in Iselin before moving to East Brunswick four years ago. He owned E. Kramer Buying, a men's clothing store, in Manhattan for many years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Kramer is survived by his wife of 53 years, Edith (Zeligman); daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Dr. David Young of East Brunswick; son, Dr. Marc R. Kramer of Arizona; brother and sister-in-law, Elliott and Bobbee of Pittsburgh; and grandchildren, Brittany and Lindsey Young. Interment in New Brunswick. Arrangements by Mt. Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Maraynes lived in Flushing before moving to Monroe 29 years ago. Before retiring in 1986, he was an accountant for Novel Lithography, Edison, where he worked for 10 years. He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran, and was active in community theater as a singer and actor. His wife, Dorothy, died in 2007. He was also predeceased by his sister, Claire Maraynes. Mr. Maraynes is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Robert Korwin of Marlboro; son, Allan, of Chappaqua, N.Y.; six grandchildren; three nieces; and eight nephews. Interment at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Arrangements by Mt. Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. SEGEL. Mrs. Sylvia Segel died peacefully July 31, 2009, at home. She was 95. Born in Pruzana, Poland, Sylvia immigrated to America in 1949. She was a Holocaust survivor and a partisan during the war. She was a former member of Congregation Dov 'v' Shmuel; she worked for Air Cruisers in Wall for many years, retiring 30 years ago. She was an outstanding mother and took that responsibility seriously and with love. Her beloved husband, Harry, died in 1969. Mrs. Segel is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Andrea and Emanuel Koonin of Miami and Bradley Beach, and Brenda of New York City; granddaughter, Nora Booth and her husband, David; and great grandson, Devin Isaac Booth. Arrangements by Belkoff-Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Lakewood. TANZ.Mrs. Barbara Tanz died July 31, 2009, at home. She was 72. Born in Brooklyn, Mrs. Tanz moved to Somerset in 1964. She was employed as an administrative assistant in the engineering department at Rutgers University for more than 25 years before retiring in 1997. She was an active member of Temple Beth El in Somerset. She was the first vice president of the Parkinson's Association, a member of the Franklin Township election committee and a speaker at caregiver support groups. An avid world traveler, she and her husband found great satisfaction in experiencing different cultures throughout the globe. She also enjoyed gardening and antiquing. Most importantly, she lived for her family and her beloved grandchildren. She will be remembered for her love of life. She was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Beatrice Schultz, and her loving husband, Ira Tanz, in 2008. Mrs. Tanz is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Linda of Yardville, and Alan and Gina of Atco; daughter and son-in-law, Jody and Tom Flynn of Robbinsville; brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Sandie Schultz of Aurora, Colo.; and grandchildren, Ashley, Brian, Megan, Shawn, Rebecca and Matthew. Young died July 31, 2009, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was 52. Born in Hempstead, N.Y., Mrs. Young lived in Jackson and Marlboro before moving to Hazlet 20 years ago. She taught at Middle Road School, Hazlet, for the past seven years of her 18-year career. She was a member of Temple Shalom, Aberdeen. She was predeceased by her father, Harvey Schonfield. Mrs. Young is survived by her husband of 27 years, Edward; sons, Michael, Joshua, and Joseph, all at home; mother, Marilyn Schonfield of West Palm Beach; sister, Leah Schonfield-DeBitetto and her husband, Nick, of Sparta; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Lisa Schonfield of Dexter, N.Y., and Bill and Joyce Schonfield of Florida.
