Community activities: President of Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Monmouth County and greatly involved in Temple Beth Ahm Aberdeen. Active with Jewish Federation of Greater Monmouth County Super Sunday fundraiser. Participates often in charity fundraisers, i.e. donating coats for needy and homeless.

Hobbies: Enjoys activities including tennis, hiking, fishing, and mountain biking.

Self-portrait: "I grew up in a large family where there was one car and seven drivers. The No. 1 lesson I learned was to share and to compromise and learn that the needs of others are as important as your own."

Motto: "People don't plan to fail; people fail to plan."

Greatest accomplishment: "Raising three wonderful sons who will give back to the Jewish community."

Bad habits: "I bite my nails."

Favorite TV show: "Old re-runs of 'MASH'."

Favorite food: "Anything my wife makes. It's always five times better than any restaurant food."

Best childhood memory: "Growing up in a house with an open door policy. There were always up to 10 guests -- a constant flow of people. The door was never closed; there was lots of tumult. All the baseball games were played in our yard. The net was attached to our garage."

People don't know that I... "Am a nocturnal mountain biker. I will bike from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. in woods, where I've come into contact with deer and even a bear."

Last book I read: "The Janson Directive," by Robert Ludlum.

The biggest asset in the local Jewish communities: "The children who are being guided by local clergy and teachers from the Jewish schools, the JCC, and Chabad. They are dedicated and without the kids there would be no JCC, and shuls would dissolve."

The biggest problem in the local Jewish communities: "Assimilation and the lack of understanding in not recognizing what a wonderful thing it is to be part of a close-knit Jewish community."

If I had more time I would... "Travel the country and visit family living in different parts of the country so we'd see more of each other."
