Elise and Ira Merkel of East Brunswick are proud to announce the bat mitzvah their daughter, Lindsay Arielle, on Nov. 28, 2008. Grandparents are Shirley and Ralph Merkel of Bayside, N.Y. and the late Sara and Julius Toubine. Lindsay led the Friday evening service at The East Brunswick Jewish Center and chanted her Haftorah portion. The celebration continued at B'nai Tikvah in North Brunswick on Saturday evening, Nov. 29. Lindsay is a 7th grade student at the Solomon Schechter Day School of Raritan Valley. For her bat mitzvah project, Lindsay has been collecting art supplies to donate to the Bristol-Myers-Squibb Children's Hospital in New Brunswick so that those less fortunate can enjoy art as much as she does.
