BARR. Mr. Michael Barr died Nov. 27, 2007, at Saint Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 62.

Born in Massachusetts, Mr. Barr moved to Piscataway 40 years ago. He was an operations manager with C and K Scrap Metal in Newark. He was co-president and very active with Congregation Knesseth Israel in Bound Brook.

Mr. Barr is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Pamela; sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Kate of Boone and Adam and Melissa of Niskayuna, N.Y.; grandchildren, Matthew, Frances, Alexandra, Zachery, Rebecca and Avi; brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Phyllis of Rhode Island; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Jeffrey Schildkraut Jeffery of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Barr was laid to rest at the Beth Israel Mausoleum in Woodbridge. Arrangements by the Piscataway Funeral Home. KAUFELT. Mrs. Florence Willner Kaufelt of Boca Raton, Fla., died Dec. 15, 2007, at Hospice-By-The-Sea in Boca Raton. She was 89.

Born in New Brunswick, Mrs. Kaufelt lived in New Brunswick and Highland Park for most of her life until she moved to Florida in 1999. She was a 1940 graduate of Douglass College, New Brunswick, with a bachelor’s degree in economics. She was a founding member of Highland Park Library and was very active in social, civic, and Jewish organizations. She was a member of Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple, New Brunswick, and had been a member and past president of the temple’s Sisterhood. She was also very active with Rutgers Preparatory School, Franklin, for many years. She enjoyed reading and was an above average bridge player.

Mrs. Kaufelt is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Stanley; daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Dr. Barnes Keller of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; sons and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Holly Corn Kaufelt of Santa Monica, Calif., and Robert of New York City; brother, Jay Willner of Monroe; and grandchildren, Michael and James Keller and Lauren Galit. Entombment at Beth Israel Cemetery Mausoleum, Woodbridge. Arrangements by Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, New Brunswick.

MOED. Norma R. Greiff Moed died Dec. 10, 2007, at home.

Born in Brooklyn, Mrs. Moed lived in Woodbridge for 16 years before moving to Monroe in 1996. She was a member of the Ponds chapter of ORT (Organization for the Rehabilitation through Training), the Ponds Chapter of Brandeis, the Ponds Womens Club and the Ponds Yiddish Club, all in Monroe. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and traveling with her husband. She was predeceased by a brother, Murray Greiff.

Mrs. Moed is survived by her husband of 52 years, Sheldon; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Angel of Noblesville, Ind., and Alan and Kelly of Manalapan; and grandchildren, Courtney, William, Justin and Meghan. RON. Mrs. Sharon Goldstein Ron, formerly of Highland Park, died Nov. 24, 2007, at her home on Kibbutz Ramat Yochanan in Israel. She was 35.

Sharon was born in Brooklyn, and grew up in Highland Park, graduating from Highland Park High School in 1990. She earned her bachelor’s degree in political science from Rutgers University in 1995. After graduating, she chose to study in Israel for a year, where she met her future husband, Yochai Ron. Throughout her years in college, as well as after graduating, Sharon worked assisting people with disabilities. Her caring and compassionate heart motivated her to pursue a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Psychology at the University of Wisconsin, which she completed in 1998. She then moved to Israel and married in 2000. Sharon had a wonderful sense of humor and fun and laughed easily. She had a strong and independent -- as well as creative -- spirit that inspired others. She also had a warm and understanding way that made her so dear to so many people. She was a supremely devoted wife and mother. She always had time to play with or read to or give hugs to her “two little lightbulbs.” Sharon faced her illness as she did so many other things, with extraordinary bravery and determination. She continued to live life to the fullest, whether creating beautiful woodwork, swimming daily laps, kayaking with Yochai, or doing yoga with her daughter. She will be missed terribly and always remembered. She was predeceased by her father, Dr. Harris Goldstein.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Yochai Ron; children, Osher, 6 and Yam, 3; mother, Brigitte Goldstein; and siblings, Nicole, Michael, and Marcel. Interment at Kibbutz Ramat Yochanan. ROSEN. Mrs. Hortense Rosen. SACK. Mrs. Alice (Handeli) Sack of Highland Park died Dec. 4, 2007, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. She was 85.

Born in New Brunswick, Mrs. Sack lived there many years before she moved to West Orange where she lived for 10 years, then moved to Highland Park in 1969 where she lived until her time of death. She was a lifelong member of Congregation Etz Ahaim in Highland Park, where she served as financial secretary for its sisterhood for more than 40 years. During the war, she graduated from New Brunswick High School and went to work as a bookkeeper at Camp Kilmer. After the war was over she worked for Raritan Arsenal -- the present site of Middlesex County College, Edison. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Max Sack.

Mrs. Sack is survived by her sons, Sam of New York and David of Highland Park; and her grandson, Mark David. Interment at Poile Zedek Cemetery, New Brunswick. Arrangements by The Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Inc., Edison.

Schlesinger. Mr. Edwin Schlesinger of North Brunswick died Nov. 25, 2007, at Saint Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was 75.

Born in Newark, Mr. Schlesinger married his high school sweetheart, Elaine Teitelbaum. They spent two years in France during the Korean War, where he was stationed. They returned to New Jersey where they have made their home for the past 55 years. He had been employed as a retail sales manager for more than 50 years in the carpet industry. He spent 20 years with Allen Carpet Co. and 10 years with NBS Carpet, both now defunct. The last 15 years he was with his son, Craig, at Craig & Jeff’s Carpet and Blinds. He had a great sense of humor and was dearly loved by all who knew him. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Leonard and Bertha (Illion).

Mr. Schlesinger is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elaine; children, Martin and Leslie of North Brunswick, Craig and Felice of Kendall Park, Steven Schlesinger and Linda Rosetti of Winchester, Mass., and Jonathan of New York City; brother, Barry of Basking Ridge; and grandchildren, Jeffrey, Heather, Adam, Ariel, Jacqui and William Schlesinger. Interment at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Arrangements by Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, New Brunswick.

SHUGERMAN. Mrs. Gwendolyn Michael Shugerman died Nov. 26, 2007, at Care One, East Brunswick.

Born in Macon, Ga., Mrs. Shugerman lived in Coconut Creek, Fla., before moving to East Brunswick in 1999. Before retiring many years ago, she was the clerk for the Family Center at Nova University, Hollywood, Fla. Prior to that, she worked at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, most recently as the assistant registrar of University College. She also worked many years in medical administration for the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center, and during World War II she worked in the Supply Division Office of Camp Wheeler in Georgia. She was a member of Temple B’nai Shalom, East Brunswick, and a former member of Temple Beth Israel, Macon, Ga., where she taught Sunday School. She received her B.A. degree from Mercer University, Macon, Ga., where she was tapped for a Cardinal Key (honor society), was a member of the Alembic Club, secretary of the Ciceronian Literary Society, president of Kappa Delta Epsilon, secretary/treasurer of the Coed Student Body; and a member of the mixed chorus and President’s Club. One of Dr. Marilyn Segal’s books was dedicated to Mrs. Shugerman. She also belonged to Hadassah; B’nai B’rith; and was the PTA treasurer in Birmingham, Ala. Her husband, Joseph, died in 2000, and her son, Marvin, died in 2002.

Mrs. Shugerman is survived by her son, Barre Lee of Fruithurst, Ala.; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa A. and David Gelfman of East Brunswick; sisters, Beckie Michael Schild of Bergenfield and Gertrude Dolores Jacobs of Fair Oaks, Calif.; and granddaughters, Jenny Gelfman Frank and her husband, Jason, and Lauren Diane Gelfman. STERN. Mr. Murray Stern died Nov. 22, 2007, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 78.

Born in New York, Mr. Stern lived in East Brunswick for 40 years before moving to Somerset in 2004. He was co-owner of Academy Professional Information Services in NYC for more than 35 years, retiring in 2003. He received his BA degree from NYU and his MBA degree from the University of New Mexico. He was a veteran of the Army during the Korean War. Murray was a member of Score, Somerset County Division, chairmen of the Somerset Run Communications Committee and the Men’s Club. He enjoyed traveling and especially loved history. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Mr. Stern is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ricki; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Daniel Dickholtz; sons and daughter-in-law, Howard, and Kenneth and Ellyn; and grandchildren, Andrew, Madeline, Joshua, Benjamin, Rachel and Emily. WINTER. Mr. Charles Winter died Nov. 27, 2007. He was 97.

Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Winter lived in Queens before moving to the Clearbrook development in Monroe 35 years ago. He was a self-employed CPA for more than 60 years. He founded the CPA firm that ultimately became Winter and Company, CPAs, and was prominent in tax and accounting circles in New York. He was granted honorary membership by the American Institute of CPAs. He was a charter member of the Jewish Congregation of Clearbrook, Monroe, and a founder of the Jewish Community House of Laurelton/Springfield Gardens in Queens. He was also a member of Woodman of the World and B’nai B’rith. He was active in the Boys Scouts, and was awarded the Silver Beaver, the highest award a local council can give an adult, and was elected to the Order of the Arrow, an honor society within the Boy Scouts. His first wife of 59 years, Sadie, died in 1991; his second wife, Annette, died in 2005.

Mr. Winter is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Frank and Joyce of Manalapan, and Ralph and Maria of East Brunswick; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Stephen Baum of East Brunswick; sister, Selma Forrest of Bayonne; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Lynn, Elisa and Joseph, Barbara and Don, Keath and Ceridwen, and Kevin and Brian; and great-grandchildren, Eric, Ethan, and Parker. YAVERBAUM. Mrs. Beatrice Nudelberg Yaverbaum died Nov. 22, 2007, at Care One, East Brunswick. She was 89.

Born in Manhattan, Mrs. Yaverbaum lived in Brooklyn before moving to East Brunswick in 1989. Prior to retiring in 1982, she was a bookkeeper for the Robert Mandel Jewelry Co., Manhattan, where she worked for 27 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Seymour, in 2001.

Mrs. Yaverbaum is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Angela of Staten Island; daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Bruce Salkin of New York City; brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Brenda Nudelberg of Boca Raton, Fla.; sister, Lenore Green of Monroe; and grandchildren, David Yaverbaum and his wife, Cheryl, Marc Yaverbaum and his wife, Melissa, and Brian Salkin.Interment at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin. Ziner. Mr. Irwin N. Ziner of Edison died Dec. 12, 2007, at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 79.

Born Jan. 11, 1928, in Malden, Mass., Mr. Ziner lived in Perth Amboy, then in Edison for 44 years. He graduated from Northeastern University in Boston in 1949, and served in the Army during the Korean War. He owned the 5th Avenue Card Shop in South Plainfield for more than 20 years until he retired. He was a past president of the Middlesex Mall Merchants Association; and a past Worthy Patron of Menorah Link of the Order of the Golden Chain. He volunteered for the American Cancer Society, driving patients to hospital appointments; served on the Middlesex board of elections as poll clerk, and was a member of Temple Beth Mordecai in Perth Amboy.

Mr. Ziner is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rita (Zagoren); daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and David Rayment of Erie, Colo.; son, Jonathan R. of Fords; and grandchildren, Brooke and Lauren Rayment and Nicholas Ziner. Interment at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Arrangements by Flynn and Son Funeral Home, Fords.
