Highland Park Conservative Temple -- Congregation Anshe Emeth. "Only Human," a film about a Jewish girl, Leni, who brings home her Palestinian fiancŽ, Rafi. The result is a series of zany, romantic, and potentially tragic misadventures that fill an eventful night of farce and fun. Released in 2004, the film is in Spanish with English subtitles. It is rated R for some sexual content and nudity. After the screening, Prof. Milton Heumann, chair of the Rutgers Political Science Department from 1997 to 2003, will examine the ways in which the film employs stereotypes of Jews in its humor and its naturalization of Jewish-Palestinian romantic relationships in personal and political terms. The Orthodox Forum of Edison/Highland Park. "The Agunah Crisis," with Rabbi Elazar Meir Teitz and Esther Macner, Esq. Rabbi Teitz is a prominent member of the rabbanut of Elizabeth and also the dean of the schools of the Jewish Educational Center. He has a Ph.D. in mathematics and has taught this subject at Rutgers University. Rabbi Teitz has been a mesader gittin since 1984 and has participated in close to 1000 gittin. Esther Macner received her B.A. from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, her M.A. from J.T.S., and her J.D. from Cardozo Law School. She is also licensed to practice law in the State of Israel. She served in the Kings County District Attorney's Office and as the Senior Trial Attorney in the Domestic Violence Bureau. Her primary focus has been Divorce and Family Law. She practices in various rabbinic courts in Monsey, Brooklyn and NYC. She is currently creating a program to train Orthodox Jewish attorneys to practice in the rabbinic courts of New York.
