THE JEWISH STATE February 26, 2010 FRIEDER. Mrs. Lenore Frieder (nee Fendrich) died Feb. 15, 2010 at Meridian Sub-Acute Rehabilitation at Wall. She was 90. Born in New York City the youngest child of Eugene and Rae Fendrich, Lenore grew up and lived for many years in Newark and Clark. She was happy, fun loving, loyal, and devoted to her family and friends. A 1936 graduate of Newark's Central High School, she was employed for many years as a bookkeeper at Bundy Electronics of Newark and Springfield, then in the accounting department of the Newark Housing Authority, retiring in 1979. She and her loving husband of 66 years, Jack, moved to Delray Beach, Fla., in 1979 and spent 26 wonderful years there before relocating to Lakewood in the fall of 2005. She collected friends wherever she lived with her happy, outgoing personality. Besides her parents, Lenore is predeceased by her husband, Jack, and brothers, Milton, Leo, and Howard. Mrs. Frieder is survived by her son, Kenneth of Abington, Pa.; daughter, Joan Smith of Brick; grandchildren, Jonathan and Elliott Frieder, Lesley Wolf, and Alison Smith; and five great-grandchildren. Gross, Ph.D., died Feb. 15, 2010 at The Cleveland Clinic in Florida. He was 74. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Dr. Gross lived most of his life in Freehold before moving to Monroe. He graduated from Columbia College of Pharmacy, New York, and earned his doctoral degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa. He was in product development management with Johnson & Johnson for 30 years before retiring. While at Johnson & Johnson, he contributed to the development of many products. An avid photographer and world traveler, he loved playing tennis and doing The New York Times crossword puzzles -- in ink. He was a long-time member of the American Pharmaceutical Association, Hadassah, and Temple Shaari Emeth in Manalapan. He was predeceased by parents, Helen and Abraham Gross; and his sister, Rozzie Schulweis. Dr. Gross is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Evelyn; daughters and sons-in-law, Shari and Michael Beirne, and Tracy and Scott Einhorn; grandchildren (and favorite photography subjects), Marisa Beirne, Meredith Beirne, and Jesse Einhorn. Lewis died Feb. 15, 2010, of complications after surgery in Fort Myers, Fla. He was 85. Ed served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in World War II from 1943 to 1946. He was a graduate of Long Island University and received an MBA from the Harvard Business School in 1948. Active in many volunteer activities, he was past president of the Westfield Community Players and of the Men's Club of Temple Emanu-El in Westfield, and he had been a 15-year member of the board of trustees at Temple Emanu-El. He was active in Jewish community affairs such as UJA, Bonds, Soviet Jewry, and other temple activities. Ed performed in community theaters in Westfield and Cranford, Naples, Fla., and Fort Myers, Fla., for more than 40 years. Mr. Lewis is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Gertrude Jay Lewis; sister, Betty Pollack; daughters and son-in-law, Ellen Lewis, Karen Levin, and Nancy and Fred Golden; and grandchildren, Gideon, Micah, Nathan, Noah, Rebecca, and Zachary. She was 85. Born in the Bronx, Elaine lived in Edison and settled in Manchester 24 years ago. She was an accounting secretary for Revlon in Edison. She was a member of Congregation B'nai Israel in Toms River. She was very active in her community as a member of the LVW Civic Club, of Hadassah, and she loved to travel. Mrs. Loeb is survived by her husband of 63 years, Werner; sons, Ronald of Manchester, and Brian of Old Bridge; sister, Beverly Banks of Fort Meyers, Fla.; and granddaughter, Adrienne. interment at Brig. Marks died Feb. 18, 2010 in New Brunswick, with his wife and sons by his side. Born in Manhattan, Mr. Marks graduated from City College and served after World War II in the Air Force. He spent most of his career in the advertising business, serving as creative director for Hess Oil and as a partner in the North Brunswick agency of Luery, Marks and Strasser. He later ran a home health care company, Health and Happiness, in New Brunswick. He loved travel, Broadway, golf, and the Yankees. Mr. Marks is survived by his wife, Sara; sons, Peter and Jamie; and grandchildren, Lizzie, Hanna, and Sam. Interment at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Arrangements by Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. PRAWER. Mr. Aba Prawer died Feb. 20, 2010. He was 88. Born in Poland, Mr. Prawer came to the U.S. in 1951, settling in Newark, and lived in Hillside before moving to Springfield. He was a foreman with Folber Plastics in Harrison. He was a Holocaust survivor and a member of Congregation Israel in Springfield, participating in morning minyan prayers, and was also a member of the senior group. He was a member of the YM-YWHA of Union. He was a special husband, father and grandfather who was always involved with helping people. He was predeceased by his wife, Syma. Mr. Prawer is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Toby Schier, and Shelley and Gene Gelpke; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Susan; and four grandchildren. Mrs. Anita Resnick died Feb. 17, 2010 at home, surrounded by her loving husband, son, and daughter. She was 82. Born in Scranton, Pa., Mrs. Resnick was and raised in Trenton before moving to Ocean 53 years ago. She was a member of Temple Beth Torah, Ocean, for 43 years; a member of the Temple Beth Torah Sisterhood; a life member of Hadassah; and a member of ARMDI. Anita spent many years in business with her husband on the Asbury Park boardwalk. She was loved and respected in the community and would always lend a helping hand. She was admired by everyone. Her devotion to her grandchildren was unconditional. Mrs. Resnick is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jules; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Diane of Ocean; daughter and son-in-law Karyn and William Raby of Ocean; grandchildren, Rachel Resnick, David Resnick, Sarah Resnick, Harrison Raby and Raeanna Raby. Mr. Eugene Paul Schrenzel died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family Feb. 9, 2010. He was 88. Born in Hamburg, Germany, Eugene escaped the Nazis in 1937 and fled to the Dominican Republic with his parents, sister and uncle. After living there for four years, his family emigrated to New York City in 1941. Eugene was immediately drafted and sent back to Germany. He was a decorated World War II veteran who served as a sergeant in counter intelligence with Patton, receiving a Bronze Star, two Purple Hearts, a Presidential Unit Citation, and an African-Middle Eastern Service Medal. After the war, he married Gloria in 1947 and lived in Brooklyn, St. Louis, and Dumont. He owned an embroidery business, Windsor Coverlet Company and Shuttle-Tex in West New York, until his retirement in 2000. He was a past president of the American Shiffli Embroidery Association. He was a past vice president of the Bergenfield-Dumont Jewish Community Center, and was very active there for many years. He was the commander of the Bergen County and local Post 654 of the Jewish War Veterans and was awarded the N.J. State JWV Commander of the Year in 1983-84. Eugene was a talented painter, gardener, and photographer. He and his beloved wife, Gloria, traveled the world, and took their whole family of 15 on three cruises. Anyone who met him knew he was the kindest, sweetest, and most gentle person they had ever known. He was an inspiration to all who knew him, especially his loving family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Gloria. Mr. Schrenzel is survived by his daughters and sons-in-laws, Yvonne and Howard Beyer of Highland Park, and Janine and Frank Kelly of River Vale; son and daughter-in-law, Stuart and Paula of New Milford; sister, Ruth Jacob of St. Louis; grandchildren, Sam, Jeremy, and Rachel Beyer, Evan Kelly, Andrew, Sarah, and Hannah Schrenzel, and Gina Fernandes. Born in New York City, Gloria lived in Brooklyn, St. Louis and for the last 51 years in Dumont. She was a member of the Bergenfield-Dumont Jewish Community Center, where she was a vice president of the Sisterhood. She was a Girl Scout Leader and a Bowling League president. Gloria was a bookkeeper, a homemaker, and the matriarch of her loving family. Gloria and her husband Eugene, traveled the world and enjoyed the most loving marriage of 63 years. She devoted herself to her family and could light up any room with her quick wit, smile, and charisma. Gloria's beloved husband Eugene died exactly four weeks after his loving wife. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Yvonne and Howard Beyer of Highland Park; Janine and Frank Kelly of River Vale, son and daughter-in-law, Stuart and Paula Schrenzel of New Milford; sister Phyllis Rudnick of Lakewood and brother Myron of Queens; grandchildren, Sam, Jeremy and Rachel Beyer, Evan Kelly, Andrew, Sarah, and Hannah Schrenzel and Gina Fernandes. Born in the Bronx, Evelyn lived in Hillside and West Orange before moving to Englishtown 33 years ago. She was an administrative secretary for CentraState Medical Center, Freehold, for eight years, retiring in 1994. She was a past president of Women's American ORT of Hillside, a trustee at Covered Bridge of Englishtown, and a member of Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital. Her husband, Louis, died in 1982; her sister, Ruth Meiseles, died in 2003. Mrs. Spevack is survived by her sons, Joel of Poway, Calif., and Michael of Sumter, S.C.; sister, Dianne Coslit of Piscataway; and grandchildren, Max, Louis, and Jeanine Spevack.
