COHEN. Mr. Gary M. Cohen died Jan. 6, 2010. He was 58 years old.

Born in Newark, Gary lived in Edison for the past 25 years. He worked for Harold Import Company, where he excelled as a salesman for nearly 20 years. He had an obvious passion for his job, as well as for his family.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Marcia; son, David, of Freehold; parents, Fran and Jack of Monroe; brother, Don of New York; and sister, Barbara of Clark. Arrangements by Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Inc., Edison. Interment at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Haven Hospice, or a charity of one's choice.

KASS. Mrs. Pearl Kass died Jan. 8, 2010, at Fountain View Care Center, Lakewood. She was 89.

Born in Brooklyn, Pearl moved to Newark and later to Irvington and Hillside before settling in A Country Place in Lakewood.

Mrs. Kass is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Max; daughter, Elyse Lubitz of Livingston; sons, Steven of Morganville and Ira of Antioch, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Interment at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Arrangements by Belkoff-Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Lakewood. SAMUELS. Mr. Ervin Samuels died Dec. 31, 2009 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 87.

Born to Anna and Jacob Samuels on April 6, 1922 in Newark, Erv moved to Vauxhall in 1932, where his family started a used car business. In 1943 he joined the Army and served in the South Pacific until 1946. Upon his return from service he started a new car business and body shop in Vauxhall. Later he started Samuels Inc. t/a Buy Wise Auto Parts and served as CEO until his death. Throughout the years he received numerous awards including the President's Award from the Union Township Chamber of Commerce, Union High School Hall of Fame, Citizen of the Year at the Union Hospital, and was named Friend of Youth from the Union Boys and Girls Club, as well as the Unico's Richard Galante Sr. Humanitarianism Award. He was elected to the board of directors of Union Township Chamber of Commerce and later served as its president. He was proud to be a member of the board of directors of the American Union Bank and served on the advisory board of Community First Bank in Somerset.

Erv is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Shirley (nee Birkenfeld); children, Judi and Bernie Marx of Somerset, and Bob and Vivian Samuels of Green Brook; grandchildren, Jennifer and Matthew Ward, Joshua and Marcy Marx, Ryan Samuels and Mary Ann Giaimo, and Kelly and Brian Ford; and great-grandchildren, Allison, Sydney, and Jacob Ward; and brothers Martin and Philip. Arrangements by Menorah Chapels, Union. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

SELSKY. Mr. Fredric Selsky died suddenly Jan. 3, 2010. He was 52.

Fred attended Syracuse University and was vice president of sales for Weiner, Crowly & St. John, Leonia. An active member of Sinai Free Synagogue, Mount Vernon, N.Y., he was immediate past president and chairman of the board. He was known and beloved for his continual generosity of heart and spirit and was a pillar to the congregation. He was an avid golfer and a sports fan. He enjoyed cheering for the Jets, Rangers, and Yankees. He was predeceased by his father, Philip.

Mr. Selsky is survived by his adoring wife of 27 years, Nancy; and sons, Andrew and Lyle; mother, Barbara Selsky Friedman of Freehold; sisters, Robin Sebor of Freehold, and Lisa Hendricks of Howell; brother, Mitchell of Brick; mother-in-law, Ann Spilka of Brooklyn; and many nieces and nephews.

SHECHET. Mrs. Dolores Ehrmann Shechet died Jan. 2, 2010 at CareOne in Wall. She was 80.

Born in Lakewood on Jan. 6, 1929, Dolores lost her mother when she was 2 years old. She lived with a series of relatives in Freehold and Brooklyn. When she was 7, her father, Philip Ehlin, remarried and the family moved into a Bronx brownstone. The family came to Toms River in the late 1940s, and Dolores married her beloved husband Ralph Ehrmann in 1948. A number of years after Ralph's untimely death in 1966, Dolores relocated to Monmouth County and married Irving Shechet in 1974. They lived in Deal Park. Irving died in 2003. For many years, Dolores was the owner of Philips Shoe Stores in Toms River and Point Pleasant Beach., founded by her father and later run by Ralph and his brother Hans. She was a long-time member of Congregation B'nai Israel in Toms River and was president of the congregation Sisterhood in 1963 and 1964. For decades, Dolores was active in The American Heart Association.

Mrs. Shechet is survived by her sons Richard Ehrmann of Landover, Md., and Bruce Ehrmann and his wife Sandi Slone of New York City; and grandchildren, Regina, Amalia, and Alisa. Interment at B'nai Israel Memorial Park. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to The American Heart Association.

SHEIN. Mrs. Bari Sue Shein died Jan. 3, 2010. She was 55.

Born in New Brunswick, Bari graduated from East Brunswick High School and lived in the Morristown area for many years. She graduated from Rutgers University in 1976 and began a long tenure working in telecommunications. She was an avid moviegoer, gourmet cook and sports enthusiast. She was one of those rare individuals who loved working out at the gym. She was predeceased by her father, Hartley.

Bari is survived by her mother, Regina (nee Saffier); brother and sister-in-law, William Shein and Susan Gordon; nieces, Alison and Erica Shein; uncles and an aunt, Melvin Saffier, and Jeffries Shein and his wife, Rona; and many cousins. Arrangements by Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, New Brunswick. Memorial donations may be made to the Deborah Hospital Foundation or the Jewish Family and Vocational Service of New Jersey.

WEISS. Mrs. Gladys Thaler Weiss died Jan. 7, 2010 at the Medical Center at Princeton. She was 88.

Born in Brooklyn, Mrs. Weiss lived in Long Island before moving to Monroe 26 years ago. Before retiring, she was the director of retail for Madison Square Park Distributors, Manhattan, where she worked for 26 years. She graduated from New York University with a BA in English. She was a member of the Jewish Congregation of Concordia, Monroe. She was predeceased by her son, Barry.

Mrs. Weiss is survived by her husband, Charles; son, Jerry of Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.; grandchildren, Samantha, Tracey, and David; and great-grandchildren, Brianna, Alex, and Gabriel. Interment at Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus. Arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. WOHLE. Mrs. Roslyn Faye (nee Levy) Wohle died Jan. 9, 2010 at New York University Medical Center with family by her side. She was 92.

Mrs. Wohle earned a bachelor's degree and two master's degrees from Jersey City State College. She was a Hoboken board of education teacher for 26 years, one of the first teachers of preschool children with disabilities in the state of New Jersey. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Sidney; and her sister, Jeanne Peterson.

Mrs. Wohle is survived by her daughters, Roberta Wohle and Elissa Gordon; son-in-law, David Gordon; grandchildren, Sam and Sarah; and sister, Pearle Schneider.
