FEIN. Mr. Gilbert M. Fein died Dec. 30, 2008. He was 76. Born in Brooklyn, Gil served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was chief financial analyst of the Eastern Seaboard for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a commander of the Jewish War Veterans Post #18, and Hudson County Commander of the Jewish War Veterans, as well as chairman of the board of Ohab Shalom Synagogue, committee member of Bayonne Boy Scouts Troop #13, and a board member of Jewish Family and Counseling Service of Bayonne. Mr. Fein is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Lazarov; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Ivy, and Steven and Wendy; daughter and son-in-law, Francie and Gary Turner; grandchildren, Brian, Rebecca, Alina and Hannah; and brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Sara. Fink died Dec. 28, 2008 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, surrounded by family and friends. He was 47. Born in Freeport, N.Y., Mr. Fink lived in East Brunswick before moving to Spotswood. He was a proprietor for an automotive repair establishment in South River for 25 years. He was a member of the East Brunswick Lions Club for 15 years and always put others first. Mr. Fink is survived by his wife of 17 years, Barbara J. Hyatt Fink; daughter, Molly; parents, Joel and Harriet of Waretown; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Nancy of North Carolina and David and Tammy of Virginia; and nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Jenny, Sam, Victor and Julieann. FISCH.Mr. Sidney Fisch died Dec. 28, 2008 at Meadow Lakes Care Center, Hightstown. He was 82. Born in Newark, Mr. Fisch lived in North Plainfield for 40 years before retiring to Monroe four years ago. A World War II Army veteran, he was a manager with Lockheed Electronics, Watchung, for 17 years before retiring in 1989 He was a founding member of Congregation Beth Israel of Scotch Plains and a member of the Tri-Country Amateur Radio Club with the call letters "KD2AG" and American Legion Post 209 of Scotch Plains. His beloved wife, Phyllis, died in March 1997. Mr. Fisch is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Holly Fisch of Manalapan; daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Martin Weinberg of Edison; sister, Marilyn Bond of Edison; and adored grandchildren, Melissa, Scott, Jordan and Heather. Arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan. GOLDBERG. Mr. Leonard M. Goldberg died Jan. 6, 2009. He was 71. Leonard was a Harvard Law School graduate with the Class of 1960 and later founded the law firm of Goldberg, Mufson and Spar in West Orange. He was elected a fellow of the American College of Trusts and Estates. He was a former chairman of the Tax Section of the New Jersey Bar Association and was a member of the American Bar Association. He also created and chaired the annual New Jersey Tax Day. Leonard was a member of Congregation Agudath Israel in Caldwell, where he founded the Hebrew Free Loan Society. He was also one of the founding members of the Partnership for Jewish Life and Learning in MetroWest. Mr. Goldberg is survived by his beloved wife, Sue; his sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Lisa, and Phil and Sue; brother, Arthur; and grandchildren, Tyler, Jordyn, Sydney, Jenna and Ava. KORN.Mr. Howard S. Korn died peacefully Jan. 4, 2009 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, with his loving family at his side. He was 64. Born in Newark, Mr. Korn lived in Monroe for 38 years. He was employed at Wuhl, Shafman, Lieberman as a bookkeeper for 42 years. He enjoyed golf, traveling and being a grandpa. He was active with the Monroe Township Jewish Center, where he was on the board of directors for many years. He coached the Monroe Wolverines Pop Warner football. Mr. Korn is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sandra Raschal; daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Frank Bertone of Robbinsville, and Allison and Chris Pini of West Caldwell; father, James "Red" Korn of Las Vegas; brother, Irwin of Las Vegas; and grandsons, Steven Bertone and Ryan and Landon Pini. Mrs. Jeanette Lewin (nee Bresnick) died Dec. 24, 2008. She was 90. Formerly of Jersey City, Mrs. Lewin recently moved to Tamarac, Fla. Prior to retiring at the age 75 she was a school nurse with the Jersey City Board of Education for more than 25 years. She was a board member of Temple Beth-El, Jersey City, and president of Hadassah and Deborah Hospital Hudson County Chapters. She was co-founder of Kosher Meals on Wheels, Jersey City and a volunteer at St. Joseph's School for the Blind. She was predeceased by her husband, David Lewin. Mrs. Lewin is survived by her cherished partner, Henry Botuck; children, Martha and Jack Egan, and Samuel and Grace Lewin; grandchildren, Suzanne and Keith McCotter, Paul and Beth Schwartz, and Becky and Brian O'Donnell; and great-grandchildren, Ryan and Will McCotter, Jackson, Marley and Max Schwartz, and John and Kelly O'Donnell. Born and raised in Newark, Mr. Margulis earned a bachelor of arts degree in marketing from the University of Miami in Florida. He started Progressive Supermarkets Inc. with his father in 1958 and became president in 1975. At its height, the company operated nine ShopRite supermarkets, four pharmacies and two liquor stores. He was also a full member and chairman of the Health and Beauty Care/General Merchandise Committee at Wakefern Food Corp for more than 25 years. He invested in and consulted on several business ventures until retiring in 1998. He was a past president of Temple Beth-El in Hillsborough and was a director of the Food Bank of Somerset County. Mr. Margulis is survived by his wife, Arleen; sisters, Bernice and Selma; children, Steven, Matthew, Ronald and Carolyn; step-children, David and Steven; and five grandchildren. Interment at New Mt. Born in New York City, Mr. Pollack lived in Jackson Heights, N.Y., for many years before moving to Monroe 14 years ago. Before retiring in 2001, he was a self-employed certified public accountant for 50 years. He received his bachelor's degree from New York University in Manhattan. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as Seaman First Class. He was a congregant of Rossmoor Jewish Center, Monroe, and a Knight of Pythias. Mr. Pollack is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn Sarasohn Pollack; son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Marci of Manhattan, N.Y.; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Russell Schwartz of Monroe; sister, Gloria Gale; and grandchildren, Daniel, David and Jason. Mr. Howard David Rich died suddenly Dec. 28, 2008, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, surrounded by his family. He was 63. Mr. Rich grew up in Highland Park and attended Trenton State College. He was most recently president of The Concierge Inc., a promotional product and marketing company. Prior to this he was the owner and president of ST&L Associates, an advertising agency for many years. He was a member of the BNI Association and supported many non-profit organizations, including the Special Olympics. He was predeceased by his father, Herman Rich, and brother, Allen Rich. Mr. Rich is survived by his mother, Irene Goldman Rich of Somerset; his wife, Phyllis Bernstein Rich of North Brunswick; sons and daughters-in-law, Jonathan and Jenny of Lawrenceville and Jason and Kim of Bedminster; grandchildren, Shane, Shelby and Ethan; sister, Judy Rich Buckner of Rockville, Md.; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Mildred Kirschbaum Roberts died Dec. 29, 2008 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was 92. Born in Manhattan, N.Y., Mrs. Roberts lived in Roslyn, N.Y., before moving to Monroe 20 years ago. Before retiring in 1987, she was a travel agent and owner of The Travel Source, an agency in Albertson, N.Y., for 25 years. Her husband, Max, died in 1984. Mrs. Roberts is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Diana of Edison, William and Barbara of Chevy Chase, Md., and Eric and Barbara of Tiburon, Calif.; sister, Diana Coven of Orlando, Fla.; and grandchildren, Shawn, Ethan, Jessica, Matthew, Derek, Max, Andrea and Luke. Born in Brooklyn and raised in the Bronx, Mrs. Schuman lived in Colonia for 31 years before moving to Marlboro 21 years ago. She was an office manager for Foodtown for 25 years before retiring in 1988. She was a founding member and past president of the Sisterhood of Temple Beth Am in Colonia. She was an active participant in public activities. Mrs. Schuman is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Stanley; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Joseph Cornell of Kendall Park, and Jeanne and William Pollock of Berkeley, Calif.; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and David Goldman of Tamarac, Fla.; grandchildren, Melanie, Joshua and Zoe; two nieces; and three nephews. SCHWARTZ. Mr. Joseph Schwartz died Jan. 8, 2009 at home. He was 86. Born in Plainfield, he lived in Franklin for the past 20 years. Before retiring in 1990 he was a chemist for Briston Myers Squibb, Princeton. Mr. Schwartz is survived by 10 nieces and nephews; and 12 grandnieces and grandnephews. He was 80. Born in Hoboken, Mr. Schwartz lived there, East Orange, and Menlo Park Terrace before moving to Woodbridge 35 years ago. He was employed by the Piscataway board of education for 30 years, retiring in 1990. He was also a self-employed accountant. He was past president of Chevra Ein Jacob Burial Society. Mr. Schwartz is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria Weber Schwartz; daughters Betsy Robin Schwartz and her life partner Richard Desimone, and Francine Wolfe and her husband Jon; and grandchildren, Laura, Bryce, and Shana.
