Fried. Mr. Charles Richard (Dick) Fried died Jan. 11, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Home in East Greenwich, R.I., after a long illness. He was 80. Born in Newark, the son of Julius and Freda (Lippel) Fried, Mr. Fried lived in Union, West Orange, and St. Pete Beach, Fla., until moving to East Greenwich, R.I., three years ago. After graduation from Weequahic High School, he served in the United States Navy in World War II. Following his discharge, he received his bachelor's degree from New York University, and master's degree from Newark State College. He was a teacher of special education for 30 years, and the former director of adult services for the Cerebral Palsy League of Union County. He taught religious education at Temple B'nai Jeshurun in Short Hills, and served as the ballroom dance instructor at his family-owned Lippel School of Dance. He was a member and past president of both the Exchange Club of Union and Union B'nai B'rith, and was a member of the Kiwanis Club. He served on the advisory boards of the Union County Office for the Disabled and Union County Paratransit. Mr. Fried is survived by his wife, Rhoda; sons and daughters-in-law, Alan S. of Roselle Park, Dr. David L. and Judy of East Greenwich, R.I., and Robert T. and Abbe, of Cranford; and grandchildren, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Jason, Daniel, Zachary and Rachel. Mr. Bernard Kremnick died Nov. 4, 2007, at the Medical Center at Princeton. He was 88. Born in the Bronx, Mr. Kremnick lived in Florham Park and Union before moving to Monroe 23 years ago. Before retiring in 2003, he owned Cardmart greeting card store in East Orange. He was a World War II Army veteran. Mr. Kremnick is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lenora Wilensky Kremnick; daughter and son-in-law, Judith Kremnick Lapping and Richard, of Framingham, Mass.; brother, Irving of King Prussia, Pa.; nieces, Janet and Sharon; and nephew, Richard. Mrs. Barbara Lipp of Old Bridge died Jan. 10, 2008, at Vitas Hospice in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She was 65. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Mrs. Lipp taught school for the New York City board of education in Brooklyn. She went on to become office manager for her husband's practice in Old Bridge. She was a member of Congregation Beth Ohr in Old Bridge. Mrs. Frances (nŽe Kobre) Marx of Manchester died Jan. 11, 2008, at Atlantic Coast Rehabilitation Center in Lakewood. She was 80. Born in Newark, Frances was the bookkeeper in the family business with her husband, Gabe Marx, for 25 years. She was an active member of Hadassah in Linden and Manchester and Florida. She was also a member of Temple Mekor Chaim and its Sisterhood in Linden. Mrs. Frances is survived by her husband, Gabe; children, Jeffrey Marx and Michelle Marx Wyman; and grandchildren, Evan and Raimi Marx and Ashley Wyman. Interment at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. NAAR. Mr. Isidore B. Naar of Margate, Fla., formerly of Highland Park, died, Jan. 7, 2008, at home. He was 90. Born in Salonica, Greece, Mr. Naar came to the United States in 1924 with his parents, four brothers and five sisters. He was a 1938 graduate of Highland Park High School. In 1944, he founded and was the owner of Naar Brothers Wholesalers and Distributors Ñ a company that sold butter, eggs, cheeses, sausages and salads. In 1947, with his brother, Leon and his nephew, Morris Auyush, he founded and was a partner in Narbest Food Products Ñ manufacturers and purveyors of a variety of fine salads. He retired in 1982. Mr. Naar was a member of Congregation Etz Ahaim in Highland Park since 1929 and had served on numerous committees at the shuul. He was a founding member of the temple building committee that established the current location of the temple and was also instrumental in developing the Rabbi Benjamin H. Naar Hebrew School at Congregation Etz Ahaim, in memory of his father, who had been the Spiritual Leader and Senior Advisor of the temple when it was in New Brunswick. He also had been a member of the Sephardic Brotherhood of America since 1925. He was predeceased by his parents, Rabbi Benjamin H. and Rachel (Nifoussi) Naar; three brothers; two sisters; as well as both of his wives, Dorothy (Katz) Naar in 1977 and Alice (Baer) Naar in 1992. Mr. Naar is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Harry I. and Barbara J. Naar of Lawrenceville, Sheldon Benjamin and Laurie Naar of St. Louis, Mo.; brother, Leon of Boynton Beach, Fla.; sisters, Anna Passon of Delray Beach, Fla., Germaine Sevack of Michigan and Connie Nifoussi of Piscataway; and grandchildren, Devin Emmanuel, Aaron Ilan, Dayna Elise, Rachel Illana, Stephanie Lauren and Sarah Elizabeth Naar. Mr. Ben Rabinowitz died Jan. 9, 2008, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Rahway. He was 94. Born in Newark, Mr. Rabinowitz lived there until he moved to Kenilworth 57 years ago. He was the manager for Rubin Brothers Drug Stores in Newark. He was predeceased by his brothers, Charles and Samuel. Mr. Rabinowitz is survived by his wife, Lillian (nŽe Shutzer); daughter, Bev of Hillsborough; and son, Steven of Plainfield. Interment at Floral Park Cemetery, Deans. Schwartz of Edison died Jan. 5, 2008, at the Barbara Cheung Hospice in Edison. He was 94. Born in the Bronx, Dr. Schwartz lived in Edison for 50 years. A former orthopedic surgeon in Perth Amboy, he practiced orthopedics for 50 years before retiring in 1996. He was past chief of orthopedics at Perth Amboy General Hospital and JFK Medical Center in Edison, and had been chief of orthopedics surgery at the Roosevelt Hospital in Edison. He was the doctor for the Crippled Children's Elks Committee in Perth Amboy for approximately 35 years and ran the clinic for poliomyelitis for many years. He was elected to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and was a diplomat of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He was a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the International College of Surgeons. In addition, he was a member of the American Fracture Association, the Eastern Orthopedic Association, the American Medical Association, the Middlesex County Medical Society, the New Jersey Orthopedic Society and the American Geriatric Society. He received the Golden Merit Award from the Medical Society of New Jersey for 50 years of service. He was an Army captain in World War II, serving in New Guinea, Southern Philippines and Luzon. Dr. Schwartz is survived by his wife of 51 years, Suzanne (Roberts); sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey L. and Sheryl of Metuchen, and Dr. Mark P. and Kathryn of Monmouth Junction; grandchildren, Alec, Mariassa, Michael, Lauren and James; and sister, Helen Schultz of Englewood. Born in McKeesport, Pa., Mr. Weinstock lived in Elizabeth before moving to Monroe 18 years ago. Before retiring in 1999, he was the owner of the Roosevelt Drug Co., a neighborhood pharmacy, in Union City. He was a member of the New Jersey Pharmacy Association, the American Pharmacy Association and the Jewish Congregation of Concordia in Monroe. His wife, Sondra, died in 2005. Mr. Weinstock is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, David B. and Valerie of Berkeley Heights and Paul Michael and Robin of Coral Springs, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Sam Berardesco of Brick Town; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Sylvia of North Miami, Fla.; and grandchildren, Christopher Keller, Andrew, Kevin, Jeff, Eric and Amanda Weinstock, and Jenna and Carole Berardesco. Mrs. Rosalie Lee Feldman Weitz died Jan. 11, 2008, at home. She was 77. Born in Hoboken, Mrs. Weitz lived in West Orange before moving to Monroe 18 years ago. Prior to retiring, she was a personal test evaluator, primarily with the Merritt Agency, Bloomfield. She was a member of the Temple Beth El, Hillsborough. A graduate of Upsala College, East Orange, she belonged to Brandeis Women's Association. A longtime volunteer Braille transcriber, she was listed in the Library of Congress. She was a mentor in the Family Mentor Program, where she counseled families in crisis throughout central New Jersey. In 2003, she received the Jefferson Award from the American Institute of Public Service for her outstanding public service. Mrs. Weitz is survived by her husband of more than 58 years, William; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Steven and Elayne of Whitehouse Station; daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Robert Weissman of Annandale, Va.; and grandchildren, Andrew and Daniel Weitz and Adam and Sarah Weissman. Born in Brooklyn, Mrs. Wendruff lived in West Orange before moving to Monroe 22 years ago. She was a secretary for Foster Wheeler, Livingston, before retiring. She was predeceased by her sister, Florence Gertner, in 2003. Mrs. Wendruff is survived by her husband of 64 years, Martin; daughters and son-in-law, Carol Wendruff of Bloomfield, Linda and Peter Rosen of Great Falls, Va., Ellen Wendruff of Malden, Mass., and Debra Wendruff of Weehawken; brother, Herbert Posner of Silver Spring, Md.; and grandchildren, Nick and Daniel Rosen, and Robin, Nina and Tzivia Halperin.
