BARSKY. Mr. Jack Barsky died Dec. 18, 2008, in the Trinitas Regional Medical Center, Elizabeth. He was 85.
Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Barsky lived in Hillside for 50 years. He was an electroplater for the Miller Tube Co. in Flushing, Queens, N.Y., for many years, retiring 20 years ago. A volunteer at the Community Food Bank in Hillside since his retirement, he was a Hadassah associate. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as an Air Force bombardier. He served for three and a half years in South Pacific campaigns, received an Air Medal, two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Purple Heart and a Distinguished Flying Cross.
Mr. Barsky is survived by his wife, Lila (née Levine); daughters, Dona Preston, and Lisa Firkser and her husband, Steven; his sisters, Shirley Barman and Ruth Kutner; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Interment at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin. Arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. DIAMONDSTEIN. Mr. David Diamondstein of Monroe died Dec. 22, 2008.
Mr. Diamondstein is survived by his wife, Roberta (née Novick); son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Judith; daughters and sons-in-law, Leslie and Andrew Kass and Julie and Glenn Sanoff; and grandchildren, Noah Ari and Molly Diamondstein, Cayla and Marissa Kass, and Melanie and Zachary Sanoff. Interment at Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill. Arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick.

FOSTER. Mr. Harold L. Foster died Dec. 15, 2008, at the Elms of Cranbury. He was 89.
Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Foster lived in Levittown, N.Y., before moving to Monroe in 1993. He was an optician for the District 65 union in New York City. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a medic in the Philippines and Australia. He was a commander of the Clearbrook Post of Jewish War Veterans. He was a member of the Jewish Congregation of Clearbrook, Monroe, the Clearbrook Cribbage Club and B’nai B’rith, Monroe. He was also a volunteer driver for Jewish Family Services of Middlesex County. His wife, Corinne Kleinman Foster, died in 2004.
Mr. Foster is survived by his son, Dr. Mark Foster of Olathe, Kan.; daughter, Amy Foster of New York City; and brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Beverly of San Francisco. Interment at Beth Abraham Cemetery, East Brunswick. Arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick.

KRONER. Mrs. Dorothy Kroner (née Bender) died Dec. 19, 2008, at the Daughters of Israel Geriatric Center, West Orange. She was 98.
Born in the Bronx, Mrs. Kroner lived in Newark, Elizabeth and Orange before moving to West Orange 35 years ago. She was employed by the National Council of Jewish Women Thrift Shop, Orange, for 20 years before retiring in 1996. Prior to that, she was a buyer for Ohrbach’s Department Store, Newark, for 25 years. He was a past president of the Newark League, life member of the National Council of Jewish Women Livingston chapter and a member of Deborah and B’nai B’rith Women. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, William; daughter, Barbara M.; brother, Irving; and sister, Mary Pelzman.
Mrs. Kroner is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sheri and Richard Trugman; brother, Bernard Bender; grandchildren and their spouses, Seth and Catherine Trugman, and Melissa and Eric Hughes; and great-grandchildren, Noah William Trugman, James Aaron Hughes, and Arianna Brooke Hughes. Arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Interment at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. LIND. Mr. Stuart Lind died Dec. 27, 2008 at The Elms, Cranbury. He was 84.
Born in the Bronx, Mr. Lind lived in Edison before moving to Monroe 23 years ago. Before retiring in 1992, he was a Certified Public Accountant and partner in Lind-Wolkstein and Fennimore, Millburn, for 43 years. He was a member of Congregation Etz Chaim/Monroe Township Jewish Center.
Mr. Lind is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ally Gettenberg Lind; son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Lisa of Stephens City, Va.; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Fred Treffeisen of New Rochelle, N.Y.; and grandchildren, Toni, Nathaniel, Danielle, Beth and Alex. Interment at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick.

MATZKIN. Mr. Lawrence “Larry” Matzkin of Roselle died Dec. 21, 2008 at home. He was 76.
Born and raised in Jersey City, Mr. Matzkin moved to Roselle 30 years ago. He was an Army veteran during the Korean War, and worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Jersey City before retiring in 1991.
Mr. Matzkin is survived by his loving companion, Florence Oppmann; niece, Helen Davis; nephew, Steven Selinger; and his “little pumpkin” Allyson. Arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Interment at Mount Moriah Cemetery, Fairview.

NEUHAUSER. Mr. Arthur I. Neuhauser died Dec. 21, 2008, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was 90.
Mr. Neuhauser lived in Merrick, N.Y., prior to moving to East Brunswick in 1987. A graduate of the City College of New York, he served as an Army lieutenant during World War II and was a D-Day veteran. Prior to his retirement in 1981, he was a journalist for more than 40 years at “The New York Times,” serving as an editor on the culture, obituary and society desks. Arthur was also an editor for the “Information Please Almanac” and had edited many notable books, including “Patton: Ordeal and Triumph” by Ladislas Farago. His passion was reading, visits to the library, making people happy with his marvelous sense of humor and his family. His wife, Roslyn Blinder Neuhauser, the love of his life, died in 1980.
Mr. Neuhauser is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Bob Scherzer of East Brunswick; sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Pat of Turners Station, Ky., and Mitch and Elyce of Woodbury, N.Y.; grandchildren, Jordan Scherzer and his wife, Robyn, Andrew Scherzer, Ross Neuhauser and his wife, Ellen, Leah, Justin and Hannah Rose Neuhauser and Molly and Jacob Neuhauser; great-grandson, Jackson Scherzer; sister, Judith Lowell of Potsdam, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews. PELCMAN. Mrs. Bella Pelcman died Dec. 17, 2008 at home. She was 85.
Born in Yezornia, Poland, Bella was a Holocaust survivor, the only one of her whole family. After the war, she lived in DP camps in Italy, where she married her beloved husband, Morris, in 1945. After immigrating to America they settled in Point Pleasant before moving to Toms River in 1961. There they operated their own chicken farm on Vermont Avenue until her retirement in 1980. She was chosen to participate in Steven Spielberg’s filming of Shoah survivors, and was the honoree at the Interfaith Holocaust Memorial Service on Yom Hashoa, May 2008. She was a member of Congregation B’nai Israel in Toms River, Hadassah, and participated with the Care Givers in Toms River. Her dear husband, Morris, died in 1978, and her daughter-in-law, Barbara, died in 1981.
Mrs. Pelcman is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Simon of Lanoka Harbor, Howard and Cindy of Lebanon, Mo., Haskel and Carol of Brick, Harry and Margaret of Bayville, and David and Jan of Bayville; daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte Pelcman and David Janusz; grandchildren, Jodie, Jason, Jessica and her husband Michael, Ian and his wife Michelle, Ariana and her husband Courtney, Jacqueline, Joshua, Michael, Aaron, Matthew and Randy; and great-grandson, Caleb. TARNOFSKY. Mrs. Eileen (Jeser) Tarnofsky died Dec. 17, 2008 at JFK Medical Center, Edison. She was 67.
Born in the Bronx, Mrs. Tarnofsky lived in Edison most of her life. She was a receptionist for Sferra Brothers in Edison, and a member of Ruth Estrin Goldberg Memorial. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and friend to all who knew her.
Mrs. Tarnofsky is survived by her husband, Fred; daughters, Lisa Freeman of Scotch Plains and Alison Tarnofsky of New York; sisters, Ronni Jeser of Riverdale, N.Y., and Renee Kirschner of New City; mother, Sylvia Jeser of Somerset; and grandchildren, Rachel and Adam. Interment at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin. Arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial donations can be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
