CHOMSKY.Rabbi Aaron Chomsky, distinguished retired spiritual leader of Congregation Shaarey Tefiloh in Perth Amboy, among other prominent Orthodox synagogues, died, July 21, 2009, at his home in Edison. A respected teacher and scholar, Rabbi Chomsky left an indelible mark on the Jewish people and the communities he loved (and who loved him in return) and served. From humble beginnings on New York's lower east side as the son of Kate and Louis Chomsky, of blessed memory, to educational excellence at Rabbi Jacob Joseph Yeshiva and Yeshiva University, Rabbi Chomsky was the epitome of Torah u'mado -- Bible and secular learning. He leaves that remarkable legacy to his students, worshippers, friends and family, and it was his family that always was the light of his life. His blissful and unconditionally loving marriage of 56 years to his life partner, Rebbetzin Lillian Chomsky of blessed memory, and love for and devotion to his children, Alizah, Zephyr, Eli, Iris, and Herschel, and grandson, Benjamin, was admired by the countless lives he touched. May the soul of Aaron Chomsky be for a blessing and may his unswerving service to God and love for Israel be emulated by all. He will be sorely missed.
