BUSCH. Mrs. Ruth Hoffman Busch, 89, of Springfield, Va., died May 12, 2009 at Inova Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax, Va. She was 89.

Born in New Brunswick, Mrs. Busch grew up in Highland Park and lived in New Brunswick, South Orange and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., before moving to Virginia in 1997. She was a member of Congregation Ahavas Achim in Highland Park. She and her late husband Edward managed the N.J. Motor Vehicle Department in New Brunswick for more than 25 years. Her first husband, Edward A. Busch, died in 1977; her second husband, William K. Miller, died in 1995.

Mrs. Busch is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Harold M. Busch and Marisol Vargas-Busch of Alexandria, Va.; daughter, Sara M. Busch; grandson, Edward Charles Busch; sister, Eva Hoffman Bookman of Atlanta, Ga.; sister-in-law, Lucille Hoffman of Chicago; and a large number of beloved nieces and nephews in the Central N.J. area. Interment at Shalom Cemetery, New Brunswick. Arrangements by Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, New Brunswick.

GRANT. Mrs. Abby Gail Grant died May 3, 2009 at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. She was 61.

Born and raised in Bayonne, Abby lived there before settling in Jackson 24 years ago. A talented singer, she performed with Rhythm and Blues groups starting in her mid-teens until recently, and was a former member of the Ad Libs. She graduated with honors from Jersey City State College, where she earned her master’s degree in sociology. Abby began her professional career as a social worker. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her into the insurance field, where she held positions with Prudential, Sun Life, and Met Life, before establishing her own company, The Abby Grant Agency in Lakewood. She later achieved her Life Underwriters Designation. Abby will be remembered as a kind, loving and classy woman, who gave her unconditional support to family and friends. She was predeceased by her grandson, Jeffrey Walter Munford, and her parents, Walter and Florence.

Abby is survived by her son, Jeffrey Munford, and daughter, Randi Olivero, both of Jackson; sisters, Judith Bloom of Atlanta, and Anita Kleinfeld of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and five grandchildren. GREENHILL. A graveside service for Norman Greenhill, took place May 11, 2009 at B’nai Abraham Memorial Park, Union. He was 90.

A resident of Bayonne for 87 years, Mr. Greenhill was a World War II veteran who served four and a half years in the infantry. He participated in the invasion and battles in the Ardennes, Rhineland and the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Infantry Combat Badge and was a member of the American Legion Mackenzie Post. More than 60 years ago he played softball in Bayonne, where he was an all-star third baseman and a leadoff batter for such teams as the 33rd St. Club and Silver Bros. He retired as a player in the late 1950s and began his umpiring career -- first on the high school level and then with the American Softball Association, where he served as Hudson County umpire-in-chief until 1983. He joined the United States Slow Pitch Softball Association in 1990 and served as director and District 2 umpire-in-chief. He was inducted into the N.J. Softball Hall of Fame in 1997. He and his wife were longstanding members of Temple Beth Am. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Sadye (Hodes).

Mr. Greenhill is survived by his daughters, Arlyne Fricchione and Judy Lapides; grandchildren, Amy Grossman, David Fricchione, Andrew Lapides and Lauren Fricchione; great-grandchildren, Ava and Carly Grossman; sister, Adele Laico of California; and several nieces and nephews.

KIKEN.Mrs. Helen (nee Koniak) Kiken of Branchburg, formerly of Jersey City, died on May 14, 2009 at Inglemoor Care Center, Livingston. She was 85.

Born and raised in Jersey City, Mrs. Kiken had lived in Branchburg for many years. She worked as an administrative assistant at Jersey City State College. She loved to keep in touch with her many friends of all ages and enjoyed knitting for charities, family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Jonas.

Mrs. Kiken is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and Len Feiner of Springfield, and Claire and David Hammond of Maryville, Tenn.; brothers, Sam and Seymour Koniak; and a large and loving family of cousins, nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. MARCUS. Mr. Charles Marcus died May 5, 2009 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. He was 96.

Born in Manhattan, Mr. Marcus settled in Brick in 1983 after living in Jackson Heights, Queens. He was a long time member of Temple Beth Or. He was a men’s clothing salesman. His beloved wife of 60 years, Fay, died in 1998.

Mr. Marcus is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ira and Barbara of Holmdel; daughter and son-in-law, Max and Les Sandler of Dayton; and grandson, Jared and his fiancee Marisa. PARNES. Mrs. Dianne (nee Blafer) Parnes died April 22, 2009 in Florida. She was 89.

Born in Newark, Mrs. Parnes lived there most of her life until moving to Franklin. In 1987 she moved to Florida. She was working at Miles Shoe Store when she married her husband, Abraham, on April 14, 1941. She also did market research opinion surveys, first on the phone and then door-to-door. Additionally, she worked in a medical office, and was a bookkeeper for Louis Drugs in Sussex until moving to Florida. She volunteered to raise money for many different charities and was the first national president of the Jewish Civil Service Women’s Auxiliary for the Post Office. After moving to Florida she became the president of the Bermuda Club Singles and Women’s Club. Her husband Abraham died in 1971. Her son Danny died in 1970.

Mrs. Parnes is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia and Lou Gutfleish, and Nadine and Allan Lipson; daughter-in-law, Ilene Grim and son-in-law, Gene Grim; grandchildren, Aaron and Lindsay, Daniel, Michele and Andrew, Kevin and Meghan, Scott and Rebecca, David and Amy and Ainslie and Shannon; and great-granddaughters, Sarah, Hailey, Anna Grace, and Victoria.

RASKIN. Mr. Sheldon Raskin died May 17, 2009 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was 75.

Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Raskin lived in Queens before moving to Monroe 6 years ago. Before retiring in 1998 he was a lighting engineer and national sales manager for Lamar Lighting Co., Farmingdale, N.Y. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. He was also a member of the Chabad Jewish Center of Monroe.

Mr. Raskin is survived by his wife of 51 years, Minna A. Stein Raskin; daughters and son-in-law, Ileen and Arthur Sigalos of East Windsor, and Susan of New York; brother, Don of Florida; and granddaughter, Julia Sigalos. ROBINSON. Mr. Ephraim Robinson died April 27, 2009 at Van Dyke Hospice, Community Medical Center, Toms River. He was 89.

Born in the Bronx, Mr. Robinson lived in Lakewood before settling in Toms River in 1941. He was a longtime member of Temple Beth Shalom, Toms River, very active in the Ocean County Jewish Federation, ran his poultry farm with his wife, Mildred, and later grew the best table grapes in Ocean County. He served in the Army during World War II 1942-46. He worked for the Farmer’s Home Administration of the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture in N.J. until his retirement in 1982.

Ephraim is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Mildred; sons, Daniel and Ken; daughter, Dina; granddaughters, Hanna and Eva; and great-grandson, Nate. Interment at Toms River Jewish Cemetery. ROSENFELD. Mrs. Lydia Rosenfeld (nee Bresky) died May 16, 2009 in Elizabeth after a long illness. She was 93.

A lifelong resident of Elizabeth, Lydia attended Battin High School and the New Jersey College for Women (later known as Douglass College), where she had a double major in French and German and was a Phi Beta Kappa honoree. She later served as executive secretary of Phi Beta Kappa and also worked at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. She taught French at the Jewish Educational Center in Elizabeth, and its sister school, Bruriah, and later taught French and German at Arthur L. Johnson High School in Clark, Westfield High School, and other schools in the Union County Regional School District. Lydia’s husband, Bernie Rosenfeld, was an English teacher in the Elizabeth public school system for more than 40 years before he passed away in 1995.

Mrs. Rosenfeld is survived by her daughter, Susan, who lives in Niamey, Niger in West Africa; and a son, Josh, who lives in Elizabeth. SAGER. Mr. Aaron L. Sager died May 9, 2009 at The Elms, Cranbury. He was 92.

Born in Carteret, Mr. Sager lived in Staten Island before moving to Monroe in 1991. He also maintained a residence in Delray Beach, Fla., since 1995. Before retiring in 1981, he was an insurance salesman for Metropolitan Life, Staten Island, for 18 years. Before that, he owned and operated Sager’s Deli and Luncheonette, in Port Richmond, Staten Island, for many years. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, and belonged to the Clearbrook post of Jewish War Veterans, as well as the Clearbrook post of the American Legion, both in Monroe. He was a member of the Jewish Congregaton of Clearbrook, Monroe; past president of the Staten Island Lions Club, and life member and past chancellor of Castleton Lodge, Knights of Pythias, Staten Island. He also belonged to the Marquetry Club at Clearbrook, the Clearbrook chapter of B’nai B’rith, and the Clearbrook Computer Club, all in Monroe, as well as AARP.

Mr. Sager is survived by his wife of 68 years, Shirley Siegler Sager; son and daughter-in-law, David and Diane of Brookeville, Md.; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Daniel Magalnick of Topsfield, Mass.; brother, Leonard, of Lake Mary, Fla.; grandchildren, Debra Krivelow and her husband, Joseph, Lisa Jacknow and her husband, Bret, Robert Sager, and Paul Sager and his wife, Kelley; and great-grandchildren, Mari Claire Krivelow, Hannah Brooke Krivelow, Gabriel Prager Jacknow, and Cooper Zachary Jacknow. SHERRY. Mr. Howard Sherry died peacefully on May 17, 2009. He was 83.

Born in the Bronx, Howard lived in Carteret before moving to Monroe 23 years ago. Before retiring in 1981, he was a supervisor for Pechter’s Bread Company in Harrison. He was a World War II veteran and a recipient of the Silver Star. He belonged to the Clearbrook Post of Jewish War Veterans. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Mr. Sherry is survived by his wife, Dorothy Kaufman Sherry; son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Lori of Barnegat; daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Elliot Freidenreich of East Brunswick; and grandchildren, Rayna, Alicia, Daniel, Brett and Seth. Interment at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. SHERRY. Mr. Werner Sherry died May 8, 2009 at home. He was 86.

Born in Danzig, Germany, Mr. Sherry lived in Israel for 25 years, then in Newark, Irvington and Union, before moving to Monroe in 1997. He was the owner and operator of Upper Cut, a barber shop, in Millburn, for 25 years, retiring in 1997. He served in the British Army Jewish Brigade during World War II and the Israeli Army in 1948 during the War of Independence and also, in 1956, during the Sinai Campaign. He was a member of the Irvington and Union chapters of B’nai B’rith, as well as the Concordia Jewish Center of Monroe. He was predeceased by his wife, Jody (nee Goldblatt).

Mr. Sherry is survived by his daughters, Pnina Hiller and Miriam Kaftal; sister, Charlotte Kapp; grandchildren, Fay, Mark, Jeffrey, Sophie, and Max; and great-grandchildren, Jenna and Benjamin.
