![]() Celebrating Simchat Torah with new scrolls
November 7, 2008
Plenty of high-spirited singing and dancing was evident at Solomon Schechter Day School, Marlboro, as the students in grades nursery through 8th grade celebrated Simchat Torah. What made this year's celebration particularly special was the donation of 20 miniature Torahs by the P.T.O. In addition to Simchat Torah, these beautiful Torahs will be used for Rosh Chodesh, Torah Enrichment, and other school programs. Simchat Torah means "Rejoicing in the Torah." This holiday marks the completion of the annual cycle of weekly Torah readings. The students took turns marching with the new Torahs and with flags that were created especially for the holiday. Solomon Schechter Day School is recognized in the community for its excellent academic program as well as its nurturing and supportive environment.
