DAVIS. Mr. Julian L. David died Nov. 18, 2007, at home. He was 87.

Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Davis lived in Pompton Plains before moving to Monroe 14 years ago. Before retiring in 1984, he was a physicist for the United States Department of Defense for 40 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a published author who wrote five books on the physics of wave propagation. He was also a member of the Union of Concerned Scientists and belonged to the Clearbrook chapter of B’nai B’rith, Monroe, and was an associate member of the Monroe Township chapter of Hadassah.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael of Queens, Jack and Joy of Manhattan, and David and Karen of Summit; sister, Suzanne Goldstein of Wisconsis; and grandchildren, Alef and Ariel. Interment at New Montefiore Cemetery, Farmingdale, N.Y. Arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the Monroe Township chapter of Hadassah or the Jewish Federation of Middlesex County.

HERZBERG. Mr. Peter Peter J. Herzberg of Westfield, formerly of Scotch Plains and Union, died Nov. 14, 2007. He was 57.

Born in Newark, Mr. Herzberg lived in Union, Philadelphia, Princeton, Washington, D.C., and Scotch Plains for nine years before moving to Westfield in 1991. He was a 1972 graduate of Haverford College, where he received a B.A., and a 1975 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Law. He was an attorney at-law and partner at Wolf, Block, Brach, Eichler in Roseland in the Environmental and Land Use Group. Previously, he was a partner at Pitney, Harden, Kipp and Szuch and, before that, had served as acting assistant counsel to Gov. Brendan T. Byrne, a former deputy attorney general for New Jersey, and as an attorney for the Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund in Washington, D.C. He was the past president of the Jewish Community Center of Central New Jersey in Scotch Plains and the past president of the board of directors of the Solomon Schechter Day School of Essex and Union Counties. He served as a member of the Board of the Jewish Federation of Central New Jersey and also belonged to the American Bar Association, the New Jersey State and Union County bar associations. He had served as chairman of the State Bar Associations Environmental Section. He was admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, as well as the Third Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. He was predeceased by his father, Arno Herzberg.

Mr. Herzberg is survived by his beloved wife, the Hon. Lisa Chrystal Herzberg; children, Benjamin Orie, Ilana Chrystal and Arielle Kay; brother, Steven; mother, Annelie; and five nieces and nephews. Interment at the King Solomon Cemetery, Clifton. Arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Donations in his memory may be made to the Peter J. KREBS. Mrs. Sharon Krebs, 80, a 51-year resident of Cranford, died Nov. 9, 2007, at the Ashbrook Nursing Home, Scotch Plains. She was 80.

Sharon was a professional buyer of women’s clothing and owned her own firm for 10 years before retiring in 1999. Beloved wife, mother, sister and aunt, Mrs. Krebs is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Arthur; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Janice, Ian and Jodee; granddaughter, Frances; sister, Jean Offen; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Interment at the Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.

LEVIN. Mrs. Nancy Leah Levin of West Windsor died Nov. 4, 2007, at the Barbara E. Cheung Memorial Hospice in Edison. She was 64.

Born in Bayonne, Nancy was raised in Bayonne and graduated from Bayonne High School in 1960 and Rider College in 1963. Prior to becoming a full-time mother and homemaker, Nancy started a brief career in Manhattan’s textile industry. Several years later, she worked for Miller’s Rentals in Edison as a party coordinator. Nancy moved to Edison in 1970 where she and her former husband, the late Stanley Levin, raised their two children. After she served as president of the John Marshall Elementary School PTA and became president of the Edison Council of PTAs, she was appointed by Mayor Anthony Yelensics to the Edison board of education. She served on the board from 1982 until 1994 including her three-year tenure as president. During her years in Edison, Nancy was a member of the Highland Park Conservative Temple and Center. She was predeceased by her mother, Sylvia Greenstein.

Nancy is survived by her children, Bruce R. Levin of Edison and Sylvia S. Butler of Robbinsville; her father, George Greenstein of Monroe; brothers, Stuart Greenstein of Tempe, Ariz.; and Martin Greenstein of Katonah, N.Y. Interment at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin. LIPPMAN. Ceil Taub Lippman Active at the JCC Ceil Taub Lippman, of Boynton Beach, Fla., wife of Norman Lippman, died on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, at North Broward Medical Center in Deerfield Beach. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 W. 8th St., Plainfield. Interment will follow at Hebrew Cemetery, South Plainfield. An active member of the Jewish Community in Plainfield, Ceil had fond memories of the many hours spent at the JCC playing handball and other sports, where she was often the only female. As an adult, Ceil took up golf with such passion and competitiveness that she quickly became one of the better female players at her club. She and Norman were fixtures a Twin Brooks Country Club, until Normans retirement in 1987, when they settled in Florida. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Jenny Taub, and was also predeceased by her two brothers, William and Milton Taub. Ceil is survived by her husband, Norman; daughter, Joanne Leibovitz and her husband, Mitchell, and son, Jonathan Lippman. She was the grandmother to Dana and Dan Leibovitz and his wife, Nancy, and great-grandmother to Kaiya. Ceil is also survived by her beloved brothers and sisters-in-law, Bernard, Myrna, Robert and Norma Lippman. Published in the Star-Ledger on 11/13/2007.

LIBOVITZ. Mrs. Pearl (née Feichel) Libovitz of Somerset, formerly of Newark and Irvington, died Nov. 12, 2007, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was 82.

Born in Newark, Mrs. Libovitz spent most of her life there before living in Irvington for five years. She then moved to Somerset 12 years ago. She worked for 30 years for T. Dorman and Sons, a grocery supply company in Newark, before retiring in 1995. She was a member of Ahavas Achim Memorial Temple in Highland Park for many years. She was predeceased by her husband, George, and her brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Libovitz is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Stanley Kossof of Boynton Beach. Fla.; granddaughter, Amy Wildstein; and great-grandson, Zachary Wildstein. ORENBERG. Mrs. Marcia Orenberg of Clark died Nov. 13, 2007, at New York Presbyterian Hospital. She was 65.

Born in Newark, Mrs. Orenberg was raised in Hillside, where she graduated from Hillside High School, and then moved to Clark 45 years ago. She had a special interest in visual arts and was a benefactor of the Edison Arts Society, Edison. She was a loving wife and grandmother to her grandchildren, and her two children were her life. She had a love for animals, especially her three dogs and her bird. She enjoyed her time at the Jersey Shore and Florida beaches, where she would collect seashells to create different artistic crafts. She was very devoted to Max and Pauline Orenberg, who have predeceased her.

Mrs. Orenberg is survived by her loving husband, Danny; daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and Robert Ruggieri of Edison; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Scott and Maria of Westfield; sister, Joan Taub; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dr. Arnold and Sandra Gold; nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Rachel and Max Ruggieri, and Andrew, Jason and David Orenberg. ZALCMAN. Mrs. Mina Rachel Zalcman died Dec. 14, 2007, in the Melech Hospice House in Tampa, Fla., surrounded by her loving family. She was 88.

Born in Poland, Mrs. Zalcman was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, of more than 50 years. Together, they survived the Holocaust and lived to rebuild their shattered lives in America, the land that embraced them. She and her husband settled into Highland Park with their children. She lived in Tampa for the past three years. Mrs. Zalcman was active in the Highland Park community. She was a lifetime member of Hadassah, the president of the Jewish Independent Club and a member of officer of the Sisterhood of Highland Park Conservation Temple and Center and the Warsaw Ghetto Resistance Organization. She was a principal volunteer at the Central New Jersey Jewish Home for the Aged. In 2002, Mrs. Zalcman was honored for her service and commitment to the community as an Eshet Chayil, a woman of valor. She was the cherished matriarch of the family and the proud sponsor of 12 women family members as lifetime members of Hadassah.

Mrs. Zalcman is survived by her three devoted children and their spouses, Rhoda and Gary Yaker of Zephyrhills, Fla., Barry and Marilyn Zalcman of Potomac, Md., and Walter and Dena Zalcman of Beit Shemesh, Israel; grandchildren and their spouses, Carrie and Adam Scheiner of Tampa, Fla., Eric and Kim Yaker of Easton, Pa., Miriam Zalcman of New York, N.Y., Amy Zalcman of Tampa, Fla., and Beth, Tova, Joshua, Aaron and Aliza Zalcman of Beit Shemesh, Israel; great-grandchildren, Aaron, Joshua, Felicia and Sara; niece and her spouse, Marsha and Lee Fensin; and nephews and spouses, Zvi and Hedva Melnik and Chaim and Ettie Manor. Interment at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Woodbridge.
