Jewish Historical Society of Central Jersey. "Anarchists Among Us: The Modern School of Stelton," lecture by Dr. Nathan Reiss. Reiss, president of the Jewish Historical Society of Central Jersey, is a retired Rutgers professor and an acclaimed genealogist. He recently published Some Jewish Families of Hesse and Galicia, a book which represents his life's work on the research of his own family roots. Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple. Lunch-time Talmud Study. Will be held on Tuesdays staring on Oct. 13. This year, the class will explore Masechet Berachot, the first tractate of the Talmud. Masechet Berachot discusses the halakhic intricacies of blessings and prayers, including the Shema, the Amidah, and the Torah Blessings. Stories of healings and heroics, theological debates, and even rabbinic recipes reveal themselves in the twists and turns of the dialectic. No prior Talmud experience or Hebrew knowledge is necessary, The class will build study skills, key phrases and structures that to help unlock the talmudic argument. Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple. K'dushat Ha-Guf: Holiness of the Body. A class of Jewish yoga and meditation to be held every Wednesday beginning Oct. 14. Our tradition teaches that our bodies are vessels for holiness. The class will explore the connection between body, mind, and spirit through Jewish lenses. Each class will feature a Jewish spiritual theme that will be experienced through gentle yoga poses, meditation, and chanting. No previous yoga experience necessary. Participants will leave feeling inspired, refreshed, and reconnected to Jewish tradition in a new way.
