BERGMAN. Mrs. Rose Plotkin Bergman died Sept. 22, 2009, at The Elms, Cranbury. She was 88. Born in Newark, Rose lived in West Orange and Union before moving to Monroe in 1984. She was a member of the Jewish Congregation of Concordia, Monroe, and the Concordia chapters of B'nai B'rith, Hadassah, Brandeis Women, and the National Council of Jewish Women. She was selected Eshet Chayil (A Woman of Valor) by the Jewish Federation of Greater Middlesex County. Mrs. Bergman is survived by her husband of 60 years, Benjamin; sons and daughters-in-law, Howard Jay and Julie of Edina, Minn., and Martin Jan and Cindy of Media, Pa.; sister, Sylvia Schaffer of Rockville, Md.; and grandchildren, Mimi, William, Phillip, and Ted. Arrangements by Mt. Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. BRODY. Mr. Irwin L. Brody died Sept. 25, 2009. He was 78. Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Brody lived in Whitehouse Station before moving to Monroe seven years ago. He was an Army veteran, who served during the Korean War. He was the founder and president of Globe Die Cutting, Metuchen, which he owned and operated for the past 48 years. His wife, Marilyn Osher Brody, died in 2008. Mr. Brody is survived by a son, Mitchell of Washington; daughter, Sherrie of Santa Fe, N.M.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bruce and Revalee of Lebanon, David and Arlene of Marlboro, and Dr. Joshua and Kathy of East Brunswick. Interment at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Arrangements by Mt. Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. GARBER. Mr. Hyman Garber died Sept. 25, 2009, at Applewood Estates, Freehold. He was 87. Born in Passaic, Mr. Garber lived in Monroe for 19 years before moving to Freehold in 2004. Prior to retiring in 1986, he was a mechanical engineer at AT&T/Bell Labs, Whippany, for 42 years. He received his B.S. in engineering in 1943 and his M.S. in industrial management in 1952 from Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken. He was a member of Temple Shaari Emeth, Manalapan. Mr. Garber is survived by his wife of 65 years, Anne Bitterman Garber; sons Steven of West Lake Village, Calif., and Richard of Palm Harbor, Fla.; daughter Jacqueline of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; and granddaughter, Melanie. Interment at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin. Arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. SACHS. Mr. Donald A. Sachs died Sept. 23, 2009, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Manhattan, Mr. Sachs lived in East Brunswick before moving to Monroe 11 years ago. He was an Army veteran, serving from 1946 to 1947. He received his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering in 1950 from the City College of New York. Prior to retiring in 1989, he taught electrical engineering in the Corporate Education Center for Western Electric, Princeton, for 38 years. He was an avid golfer and devoted fan of the New York Giants. Mr. Sachs is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruth Schnapp Sachs; sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence and Sheila, and Jeffrey and Lisa, all of East Brunswick; and grandchildren, Rachel, Andrea, Jacob, Aaron, and Sydney. Interment at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick.
