BERKELHAMMER. Mr. Albert Berkelhammer died peacefully Oct. 3, 2009. He was 97. Born in Trenton, Albert lived in Ewing and Yardley, Pa., before moving to Bridgewater in 2003. He owned and operated United Electronics Service in Trenton for more than 40 years. He was a veteran of the Army during World War II and was also a member of the Jewish War Veterans. He was a member of Har Sinai Temple in Trenton where he served as board trustee. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. His wife, Gladys, died in August 2009. Mr. Berkelhammer is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Doug Sanborn, and Carol and Richard Reiter; grandchildren, Audrey Dunnell, Peter Sanborn and Ann Anderson; and two great-granddaughters. Mr. Bruce Arthur Blumberg died Sept. 23, 2009. He was 64. Born in Somerville, Bruce graduated with honors from Yale University in 1966 and Harvard Law School in 1969. After a brief stint at a Wall Street firm he returned to Somerset County to join Blumberg & Rosenberg, Pa., his family's law firm, for 40 years. The firm had been established decades earlier by his father. Over the years Bruce enjoyed working with clients from a variety of backgrounds and appreciated his loyal staff. Bruce is survived by his wife of 23 years, Gwen Jones; daughter, Erika; sons Joshua and Jesse; parents, Leonard and Adele of Bridgewater; brother Allen; sister Joyce Kozloff; and grandson, Miles, whom he called "the light of my life". FEIGENBAUM. Mrs. Sue Feldman Feigenbaum died Sept. 30, 2009. She was 98. Born in Poland, Sue, along with her brother, Nathan, emigrated to Toronto. As a young woman she moved to New York, where she met and married her husband, Murray. Upon moving to Edison in 1979 she immediately became involved in the community by serving on the executive comittee of the JCC of Middlesex County's Senior Adult Club. She was a regular attendee of Horeinu, the senior social club of Congregation Neve Shalom, Metuchen. She was predeceased by her husband, Murray, and her brother, Nathan. Mrs. Feigenbaum is survived by her daughters, Francine Glass and Phyllis Dankberg; sons-in-law, Harry Glass and Saul Dankberg; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Deana, Betty, and Faith; brother, David; and many friends, nieces and nephews from the Dankberg, Feldman, Feigenbaum, and Glass families. Interment at King Solomon Cemetery, Clifton. Arrangements by Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Edison. KURTZ. Mrs. Faye Kurtz (nee Zinn) died Oct. 4, 2009, at home. She was 88. Born in Newark, Mrs. Kurtz lived in Hillside most of her life. She was a member of Sinai Torah Chaim Congregaton of Hillside and Hadassah. A homemaker, she was predeceased by her husband, Martin Kurtz, in 1998, and her two daughters, Linda Wiedemann and Patti Cress. Mrs. Kurtz is survived by her brother, Richard Zinn; grandchildren, Russell, Daniel and Lisa Cress, and Jennifer Wiedemann; and great-grandchildren, Madeline, Michael, and Andrew. Interment at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin. Arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. NEWMAN. Mrs. Pauline Schrob Newman died Oct. 1, 2009, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was 72. Born in Newark, Mrs. Newman lived in East Brunswick for man years before moving to Pompano Beach, Fla., five years ago. She was predeceased by two brothers, Herbert and Albert Schrob. Mrs. Newman is survived by her husband, Martin; sons and daughter-in-law, Mitchell and Linda of Perrineville, and Glen of Belmar; daughter and son-in-law, Lauren and Andrew Potash of Manalapan; brothers and sisters-in-law, Irwin and Barbara Schrob of East Brunswick, and David and Marcia Schrob of East Windsor; and grandchildren, Andrew, Brendan, Jade, and Mia. Jeffrey Weinstein, M.D., died Sept. 30, 2009, at Center for Hope and Palliative Care, Scotch Plains, after a 26-month battle with a brain tumor. He was 52. Born in Elizabeth, Jeff grew up in Cranford and lived in Edison for the past 22 years. He was an neuro-anesthesiologist at JFK Medical Center for 20 years at the time he was diagnosed. He was valedictorian and senior class president of his high school class at Wardlaw Country Day School in 1975. He attended Wesleyan University in Connecticut for three years before being accepted into a special B.A.-M.D. program at Johns Hopkins. He graduated from Johns Hopkins Medical School in 1983 and did his residency and fellowship at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in 1987. After 9/11 Jeff got involved in political activism. He lobbied members of Congress, senators, and even a sitting president on the need for a strong U.S.-Israel relationship. He took great pride in knowing that his actions helped to have legislation pass that would make a difference. After being diagnosed with the most aggressive of brain tumors, he lobbied for the need for increased spending for cancer research. While campaigning for Linda Stender, Jeff had the opportunity to meet and talk with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. He made such an impression on her that she mentioned him in her remarks to the entire group. He was predeceased by his mother, Estelle. Jeff is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years and junior high sweetheart, Karen Blum Weinstein; loving daughters and son-in-law, Rachel and Johnny, and Sarah; father, Walter; brother, Barry; sister, Cindy; and loyal Shelties, Jacob and Rebecca. Interment at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Arrangements by The Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Edison. ZECKENDORF. Mr. Stuart Zeckendorf died peacefully Sept. 30, 2009. He was 87. Born in New Brunswick, Stuart graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in plant pathology. His college career was interrupted by World War II, when he served as a sergeant in the Golden Acorn, the 87th Infantry Division of the Army. He was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and spent four months recuperating in a Paris hospital. He was awarded the Purple Heart, and was considered a hero by those who served under him. He owned Palmer Nursing Home in Summit for many years, and later co-owned and administrated Westfield Convalescent Center. He was a president and member of Temple Sinai, past member of the Rotary Club, and a proud member of the Old Guard, all of Summit. He and his beloved wife lived in New Providence for 50 years, where they raised their four children. Stuart is survived by his wife of 60 years, Frida (nee Witaschkis); children, Linda Lowy of Brookline, Mass., Daryl Rosenbaum of Florham Park, Rick Zeckendorf of Tranquility, and Barbara Kalafa of Boca Raton, Fla.; sons-in-law, Peter Lowy, Les Franz, and Victor Kalafa; grandchildren, Nina and Erica Lowy, Shelli Rosenbaum, Aron, Adam and Sam Zeckendorf, and Lauren, Stacie and Lisa Kalafa; sisters and brother-in-law, June and Myron Woller of Monroe, and Barbara Britan of Cranford; and nieces and nephews. He will be forever missed by his family and friends. Interment at B'nai Abraham Memorial Park, Union. Arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
