Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket COHEN. Mrs. Elaine Cohen died Sept. 6, 2007, at the JFK Haven Hospice in Edison. She was 75.

Born in Brooklyn, Elaine lived in Piscataway for more than 30 years before moving to Martinsville nine years ago. In 1972, Elaine and her husband, Rubin, co-founded RC Fine Foods in Hillsborough. She was a member of Temple Beth-El in Hillsborough and a former member of the Highland Park Conservative Temple. She was a lifetime member of Hadassah and volunteered her time with the League of Women Voters. Elaine was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Mrs. Cohen is survived by her husband of 51 years, Rubin; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Jody; daughters and sons-in-law, Susan C. and Eric Goldman, and Barbara C. and Lewis Epstein; brother, Alan Ginsberg; and grandchildren, Danielle, David, Rebecca, Michele, Rhyan, Drew, Matthew and Sidney. Interment at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Arrangements by Bruce C. Van Arsdale Funeral Home, Somerville. Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one’s choice.

 

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket KAPLAN. Mr. Milton Kaplan of Manchester died Sept. 8, 2007, at the Manchester Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was 85.

Born in Roselle, Mr. Kaplan lived there and in Old Bridge for 16 years before moving to Manchester nine years ago. He owned and operated the Lincoln Army-Navy Store in Roselle for more than 30 years before retiring in 1980. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a life member of the Jewish War Veterans. He also belonged to the Young Men of Zion, as well as the Men’s Brunch Bunch and the Travel Club, both of Leisure Knoll in Manchester. He was predeceased by his first wife, Frances Kaplan, in 1979.

Mr. Kaplan is survived by his wife of 26 years, Carole Green Kaplan; daughters, Arlene Kaplan of Edison, and Ellen Marks of Florida; brother, Saul of Monroe; sister, Rhoda LaVine of Schenectady, N.Y.; step-daughter, Lori Appelbaum of Nutley; step-son, Steven Meiselman of San Francisco, Calif.; and grandsons, Andrew and David Marks, and Samuel and Daniel Markstein. Interment at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin. Arrangements by Oliverie Funeral Home, Manchester. Memorial donations may be made to the Van Dyke Hospice, 99 Rt. 37-West, Toms River, N.J., 08755.

 

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket PADUANO. Mr. Matthew David Paduano of Hazlet died Sept. 2, 2007, at home. He was 24.

Born in Long Branch, Matthew lived in Marlboro his entire life before moving to Hazlet. He was a member of Temple Rodeph Torah and graduated from Marlboro High School in 2000 and then from the University of South Carolina in 2004 with a B.A. in political science. He was a disc jockey at the college radio station and recently worked for Engine City School Tech in South Plainfield. Matt was a good son and brother. He had many friends and was well-liked and easy going. He will be missed by all who knew him. He passed away alongside his wife, Katherine Rose, and son, Zachary Dylan.

Matthew is survived by his mother, Frances R. Paduano of Marlboro; his father, Francis P. Paduano Jr. of Roselle Park; sister, Elyse M. Paduano-Friedman of Marlboro; nephew, Alexander H. Paduano of Marlboro; grandmother, Pearl Buchalter of West Palm Beach, Fla.; aunt, Donna Paduano of Surprise, Ariz., and uncle, Jeffrey Buchalter of Warren.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket WEG. Dr. Leonard Weg of Springfield died Sept. 8, 2007, at home. He was 84.

Born in Newark, Dr. Weg lived in Union before moving to Springfield 50 years ago. He was a 1947 graduate of Penn State University School of Optometry and was a partner in Pollack and Weg Optometrists, Jersey City, for 30 years before retiring seven years ago. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of the Connection in Summit and the YMCA of Orange.

Dr. Weg is survived by his beloved wife, Claire (Berman); children, Ellen and Douglas; and grandchildren, Jonathan and Stefanie. Interment at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin. Arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.

 

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket ZACK. Mr. William Zack of Edison died Sept. 4, 2007, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 80.

Born in Fords, Mr. Zack lived the past 60 years in Edison. He served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1946 as a technician 4th grade. He was the president of a painting contracting firm for over 50 years. Mr. Zack was a member and former commander of the Jewish War Veterans and the Exempt Firemen of Edison, NJ-Raritan Engine Co. No. 1 and former president of the Edison Jewish Community Center. He was a member of the Israel Bonds Committee, the Jewish Federation of Greater Middlesex County, chairman of the Hebrew Loan Society and a member of B'nai B'rith. He was also a member of the Highland Park Conservative Temple and Center-Congregation Anshe Emeth. He was predeceased by his parents, Philip and Yetta Zack.

Mr. Zack is survived by his beloved wife, Ruby (née Rovins); children, Carol Sebastian of Aberdeen, David Zack of Rumson, and Robert Zack of Metuchen; grandchildren, Adam and Daniel Starr, David and Michael Herman, Leslie Dill, Alissa, Michael and Cori Zack; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Dylan, DJ, Kennedy and Braydon; and brothers and sister, Jules and Alvin Zack and Pearl Turtletaub. Interment at Floral Park Cemetery, Monmouth Junction, South Brunswick. Arrangements by Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, New Brunswick. Donations may be made to Highland Park Conservative Temple and Center/Congregation Anshe Emeth, in care of the William Zack's Memorial Children's Fund.
